[11:30 pm - Overwatch headquarters]

It has been one of those nights for the young strike commander Morrison.
One of those nights in which he wished his mate Gabriel Reyes would just show up and knock him out cold, so he could get some rest.
But of course that never happened.
Tossing and turning he spent the night wide awake in his room, feeling more uncomfortable than ever before.
It seemed like nothing in this world could help him get over those sleeping troubles.
No medication, no music, not even sports untill he'd be exhausted, it all had been pointless in the past.
A knock at the door ripped the soldier out of his thoughts.
"Jack, unlock the door."
He knew that voice, and he has never been happier to hear it.
Jack got out of his bed slowly, walking over and unlocking the door to his quarters.
He couldn't resist to laugh a little, as he saw Ana sighing at his appereance.
"You look awful Jack.", she said. The young woman was right. His shirt was sweated from the nightmares, the perfect blonde hair messy and his skin paler then usual.
"I'm sorry you have to see this.", he muttered with a weak smile. "What are you doing here anyways at this time?"
The woman sighed, crossing her arms in front of her chest. "I figured you'd have trouble getting rest after todays mission, so I thought I might as well just check on you. Looks like I was right, hm?"
Jack gave a slight nod, rubbing his right arm.
"Do you want to talk about it? Since we both won't get much rest anyways.", she added, while finally entering the commanders room.
"Maybe that would help.", the blonde man answered, closing the door behind her and walking back over to his bed. They sat down, getting comfortable next to each other. It had been like this a lot in the past time, late night talks and comforting. Ana worried about Jack a lot, while Jack enjoyed beeing taken care of. They matched perfectly.
"So, Gabriel told me about some hostages? Tell me the whole story.", she stardet, letting Jack talk all of it out. They sat there for at least two hours, him rambling about what was going on on the mission, finally getting all of it off his chest.
"...so we got them out of there, back to the base. But it turned out one of them had been part of the enemy troups. He shot two of our men down. Of course we wouldn't let him get away with that...", his mood dropped, and Ana put a hand on Jacks shoulder.
"I just feel like- I've failed at beeing a good commander. This shouldn't have happened.", he got shaky, this was obviously the reason for tonights troubles.
"Jack, look at me."
He shook his head, biting his lip.
"I feel like Gabe would have deserved my place, this wouldn't have happened under his lead, and I-"
She scooted over, pulling the older one close. Jack returned the hug, holding onto Ana.
"It will be okay.", she whispered quietly, through his light sobbing.
"Mistakes happen. Even a commander can come across some of them. After all, our mistakes are what makes us human. We learn from them, and turn into better beeings, so will you Jack. Something like this won't happen again since you learned from it this time. You are a good leader, so don't let yourself be dragged down by this.", she paused for a moment, moving one hand through his hair soothingly.
"It takes a little while to get better, I understand that. But your time will come and you will get out there again. My strong soldier."
He nodded slightly, slowly calming down. His breathing had become steady again, his sobs turning quiet.
Actually, he felt a bit sleepy now.
Ana always knew how to calm him down.
Jack eventually straightened up and looked at the younger one. "Do you mind staying?", he said quietly, giving her a weak smile.
"How could I?", she brushed his hair back with her hands, moving over to give Jack room for laying down properly.
Ana got comfortable next to him, pulling the older one close once again. One hand on his broad back, the other one in the commanders hair, just as always.
He snuggled up to her, resting his head on her chest.
"Have a good night Jack.", Ana said quietly, already feeling Jack doze off to sleep.

Fin.
