The rise of Mercury (Megaman X fanfic, contains some mild zerox eventually)

The defeat of Sigma.

Sigma checked a monitor nearby in panic, X and Zero were having no trouble whatsoever in tearing through his base.There was a sudden explosion and his control room shook.

"Since when have they been so powerful?"he wondered,"They're having no trouble at all destroying my forces."

Another explosion shook the room, and a trickle of dust fell from the ceiling.Then there was a bang and the door was blasted off it's hinges.

Turning around, sigma saw X and Zero standing in the doorway.

"We've finally found you Sigma!"X shouted,"This time you're not getting away!"

"This attack was your mistake hunters, prepare to die."Sigma said his hand transforming into a blaster.

X narrowly avoided a blast from Sigma as he shot laser after laser his way.Fighting back X countered with his own barrage of shots,allowing Zero time to slice his beam sword along Sigma's back.

Yelling in pain Sigma slammed his fist into Zero's chest,launchinghim into a nearby wall.

"Zero!"X shouted, worried for the red reploid.

"Where is Axl when you need him?" Zero groaned as he stood up.

"Actually,I have no idea."

Suddenly Sigma launched himself at X swinging his saber.

An orange blast of energy knocked him off his feet.

"It's rude to attack an unprepared opponent you know."said a high voice.

"Axl?"X said cautiously.

"That's right! and I'm here with upgrades."Axl answered cheerfully,"Use these and you'll easily beat this chump!"

"Do you think ancient weapons and a prototype can really beat me?"Sigma jeered,"Even upgraded none of you will ever be strong enough to beat me!"

Fusing with the upgrades Zero replied"Oh I think we're more than enough to beat you."

With a roar of fury Sigma ran at them but before he was even close they were gone.

Confused he looked around,searching for them.

"Oy Sigma! Behind you."

He turned and saw Axl,but before he could react Axl fired.

Staggering backwards he was shot again,this time by X.

Reeling from the blast Sigma stepped back and was immediately blocked by Zero, who's now silver hair was was fluttering in the wind.The now black reploid swung his saber and Sigma -just barely dodging countered.

Stunned briefly Sigma turned and saw X jumping into the air and heard.

"Giga Attack!"and then, his vision turned to flames.

"It's over."Zero whispered softly,then shouted "It's over!",laughing.

"Seriously?"X asked,"We've really won?"

Axl walked over to Sigma and prodded him with his foot.

"Yup,definitely dead."

Smiling, X ran up to Zero and hugged him,awkwardly he returned the hug.

"Hey um, guys!"Axl called,"What's that?"and he pointed to a machine on the wall.

"Axl,"Zero said concentrating,"that is a ... bomb!"he shouted.

"Quick!"X yelled,"Get rid of it!"

"Yikes!"Axl threw the bomb at the opposite wall where it detonated,leaving a crumbling smoking hole.

"That was close."he commented stepping away from the hole.

"Let's go." Zero said, walking towards the doorway.

"Wait,"X told them stepping up to the hole,"there's something below us."

Then he added,"it looks like they were building something,I'm going to go check it out."

Lowering himself into the hole he said "If I'm not back in twenty minutes follow me."then he jumped.

"Zero, he'll be okay,"Axl reassured,"he can handle himself."

"Yeah I hope so."

It was very dark, X adjusted his eyesight to low light levels.

He was in a large room, similar to a factory with dozens of deactivated and broken reploids lying around.

He looked around and noticed a faint blue light, far away on the other side of the room.

Walking towards it he saw a mass of wires and machines surrounding him, all connected to whatever was giving off the light.

When he got close however the light disappeared and he was looking at a reploid.

Staring at it he saw that it it seemed to have created in the likeness of a teenage male, with grey eyes, shoulder length blue hair, and a large amount of pink, cyan, and green body armour.

Curious, X took a step forward, pausing a few feet away.

Then, without warning an arc of electricity passed between the strange reploid and the machine and it's eyes lit up.

X stepped back as the tore itself from the machine and advanced on him, enveloped in energy.

"I am reploid type Mercury." it said a hollow, cold voice.

There was a crackle, a flash, and X was blasted back, hit a pile of broken robots and blacked out.
