___________
I just finished my long shift at the coffee shop and got the subway back to the apartment. I climbed the stairs till I got to the seventh floor and used my key to get in. Summer was sat at the kitchen counter eating breakfast in her smart uniform that consisted of a below the knee black skirt and blazer, white shirt, black shoes and a red tie. She had her blonde hair still a mess from sleeping but her make up was done.
"How'd you sleep?" I asked ditching my bag on the kitchen counter and grabbing the hair brush to do Summer's hair.
"Like a baby, how was work?" She asked putting another spoonful of cereal into her mouth.
"It was really busy but I got a lot of tips," I smiled braiding a fishtail in my sister's long blonde hair. "Okay, ready to go to school?" I asked securing the bottom of her braid and then running off to the bathroom to brush my teeth.
"Okay, lets go!" Summer smiled as I walked back into the front part of the apartment. I grabbed her subway pass and a couple bucks for her lunch or whatever she does with the money. Then we left.
Summer talked to me about her friends on the way to the subway and she smiled the whole time. She loves school, which is so unusual for a teenager because I hated school when I went but she'd probably live there if they'd let her. "Valley?" Summer stopped me, just before the subway station where she meets Ruby.
"What's up?" I asked as she started to rub her arms nervously.
"This guy called Jakob asked to go on a date with me tonight, do you mind if I go?" she asked looking at her shoes while shuffling a little.
"Yeah, Summer, you don't have to be nervous tell me those thing, I'm still your sister." She smiled and hugged me, "Just text me when you're done and I'll try come to get you," I kissed her head as Ruby appeared in the background. "Go, have fun and be safe."
"I will. Love you, Valley."
"Love you too, Summer."
I walked slowly back to my apartment just so happy that this life style doesn't stop Summer having a good time. Someone has asked her out, I'm so happy. My life was somewhat normal when I was just younger than her age and I had loads of boyfriend's so why shouldn't she. I got into my apartment, locked the door and grabbed the laundry basket. I got all the stuff out of my room before going to Summer's room.
Just as I was leaving her room a piece of paper caught my eye. I put the basket down and picked the piece of paper. It was a letter from Summer's school advertising the school trip to France. It was only $300 because they want the pupils to raise money for it so that reduces the price and any money that they don't raise to reduce the price the tuition fees cover it. I saw it was dated last month, why hasn't Summer showed me this? She knows I would try and get the money for her; scratch that, I'll get the money for her.
My ballet show of Swan Lake has sold out the 5 days that we're doing it and the directors are thinking about doing another 5 days so that means I'll get paid a shit load for it. I get $500 a show so if we do the 10 day I'll get $5000 and $1000 of it goes to outfits, make up and I pay for anything else in my studio that I have to. I will definitely have money left over for Summer, so she will be going to France.
After collecting all the laundry, I put it in my laundry bag and got into my lumpy bed. I managed to get some furniture from our old house but I gave Summer the better bed. After getting somewhat comfy, I set my alarm for an hours time and fell into a well needed sleep.
