"Up!" I hear a familiar voice scream. I sit up slowly and moan whilst doing so, since my slumber had been uncomfortable and my back and neck were aching.

Still feeling tired, I ask "what is it, Dane?"

"4:28am. feel free to call me Dane when we're alone but if you call me that in front of anyone, I swear to god I will make you do extra press ups!" He replies bitterly.

"Well, aren't you in a delightful mood this morning."

"I'm sorry," he says and sounds genuinely sorry "it's just... Nothing, its nothing. From 4:35am to 9:35am you will be exercising, practising with weapons, learning moves etcetera. Then, at 9:35am you will be allowed to see your friends for ten minutes. Then, from 9:45am to 7:00 pm you will continue practise. So, I would get ready quickly if I were you." He says, then throws me a bottle of protein shake.

"Just one question before I leave, are they ok? My friends?" I ask.

Dane gives me a sympathetic look and answers "do you really want me to answer that one?"

Suspiciously I answer "yes"

He sighs and walks over "I'm sorry, Lisa, I am. One passed away last night. A spark friend of mine was on watch and said that she just didn't wake up." If I wasn't already sat down my knees would've given way. I let the tears flow without even trying to hide them or stop them.

Dane walks over to me and plants a gentle hands on my shoulder. He sits next to me and I can't help but wrap my arms around him. What am I doing? I sit up and wipe away the tears. I take steady breathes to stop more tears from coming.

"Sorry bout that." Stammers Dane before exiting. What was I thinking? Have I gone completely insane?

I stand up and get dressed as quickly as I can. Mitch comes in without knocking "MD14 will be your tutor thing and he will be watching you constantly, should be lots of fun for you." He gives me a cheeky smile, grips my wrist and leads me out of the room. After walking through god knows how many halls we get to the training facility. To my surprise, it's practically empty apart from MD14.

"You tell her?" Mitch asks Dane. He nods silently. "Aww, poor Lisa. Can't quite remember which one it was, but I'm pretty sure the rest of them hate you. It was very entertaining to watch actually. They all woke up but saw that the other one was still asleep. They tried to wake her up but she was long gone."

"They think its my fault." I cry.

"Now there's the girl I saw at the hospital. The hopeless little girl who cried when she had to say goodbye to what was his name? Joe. He's gone to. At least you got to say goodbye to that one." I collect myself and get a grip. I remember Joe's farewell when I said "don't get in trouble".

"Well, I'd better be off. Lots of stuff to do." Says Mitch as he walks away.

"Sorry." Chokes out MD14 awkwardly after a long awkward silence.

"Ok." I say, since I really don't know how to reply.

"How about we just do some cardio until you can see your friends?" He asks.

"Sounds fantastic."

To be perfectly honest, 5 hours of cardio, with rare breaks, is torture. But, anything to see my friends. After I finish I'm lead down stairs and down more corridors until I reach a rusty steel door guarded by two tough looking sparks. They step aside and I'm allowed in.

But, before I even get a glimpse inside, Dane reminds me."Ten minutes."
