It irritates me that I can't feel safe by myself walking on the sidewalk. It irritates me that this world is one where I will have to teach my daughters how to defend themselves . It irritates me that my friends , at our high school age , have it already ingrained to text eachother when we get home. It's depressing that getting assaulted is something teenagers have to deal with. No one should ever have to walk down the street, keys between fingers ready to try and defend themselves. It's sad that when someone actually is assaulted , no one believes them.
"What were you wearing?" They will ask. As if Males shouldn't be able to control themselves.
Boys will be expected to act like respectable human beings.
We need to end rape culture, and we need to do it now.#womensday
