I rubbed my eyes and slowly sat up. I stretched out my arms and looked over my shoulder towards my alarm clock. 8:59. One more minute until I actually have to get up and go to school. I laid back down and rubbed my eyes once again.
Beep! Beep! I didn't realise I fell asleep while waiting for that one minute. Oh well, I guess I just had one more minute of sleep. I swung my legs over the side of my bed and stood up. I walked over to my wardrobe and pulled out my outfit for the day.
I always need to wear something lose fitting because of my 'ability'. I hate having to wear clothes that make me vulnerable of pulling-my-pants-down-because-you-can action. I grabbed my two-size-bigger-than-me sweat shirt and my massively-baggy pants. I slipped into my clothes and walked out of my room, down the hallway and into the kitchen.
I listened for the sound of bacon sizzling in the pan and the sound of my mother or father humming a happy tune. They did that most mornings. I never left my house without hearing a unique tune projecting from my parents mouths.
My father stood over the stove whistling a feel-good tune while cooking bacon. Told you they do it every morning. I walked over to my dad and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. "Hey dad." I said, on my way to sit down at our small dining table. "Morning princess," he said, "how did you sleep?" I think about this question for a second. I did sleep well, except for the fact that I had a nightmare and couldn't sleep for a few hours. I decided to play out on the norm. "Good thanks. You?"
"I slept well thanks. Here's your breakfast. Eat up!" he said with a joyful tone in his voice.
I finished my breakfast and grabbed my bag. I headed for the door and walked out of my house and into the streaming rays of sunlight passing through the maple tree beside our house. I started moving in the direction to my school.
As soon as I arrived the bell rang, signalling the start of yet another boring school day.
~time pass~
Fourth period was on and I was half way asleep. I finally managed to grab a hold on the edge of my awake before the bell finally rang, signifying the start of lunch. I grabbed my books and flew out of the classroom. I was so hungry, I could eat a horse! Actually, no, I couldn't eat a horse because that would be half-cannabilism.
I ran towards my little 'hideout' underneath a huge oak tree. I found this place on my first day of school, and it has been my hideout ever since. I don't have any friends, nor have I ever, but I am completely fine with that. I don't need friends. It's much too difficult to withstand a friendship when you have secrets that no one is allowed to know.
I leant my back against the tree and slumped to the ground. I pulled my lunch from my bag and started to eat. If I had learnt anything over the past years, it was to never eat from the cafeteria. Once, a boy almost died from food poisoning and so many others have gotten terribly ill. I honestly didn't want to risk the chances of me ending up in a hospital bed. The very thought made me shudder.
I finished eating my food and started to pack up my things. I always left early so I could bypass all the commotion and hustle from students trying to get to class.
I was about half way to English when a sudden churn in my stomach made me lose my balance. I fell to the ground and started to breathe heavily, both from embarrassment and from the pain. I knew what was coming as much as I wanted to deny it. I was changing.
People stopped and started laughing at the sight of a friendless freak laying on the ground clutching her stomach. I couldn't worry about that though, the pain was too great.
Someone screamed from the crowd that had gathered around me and I realised that my body was outlined with an eerie blue glow. I watched my hands as they slowly morphed into hooves, my feet also. Someone else screamed from the crowd and I tried my hardest not to cry. But the pain enveloping my body was too much, and I let out a faint plead for help.
No one came to help me though. Everyone was running for their lives at the sight of someone changing. I positioned myself on all fours, not bothering to try and force this surge of power down. I could hear a popping noise and came to realisation that my joints had dislocated to be ready for the finale.
I closed my eyes and let the power take over my body. I felt my face and torso grow hot, and my body began to grow. I stared down at the new body that I had control of. I shook my head and my mane flicked around with the movement. I took off at lightning speed towards the school exit.
I squeezed through the doors, barely able to fit through the narrow opening. But what I saw outside was enough to make my body freeze in terror.
Tranquilliser guns were aimed straight at me. Someone must of cried out to a teacher or something. I reared my head back in fright and took off on a run.
I felt a ting of pain in the left side of my neck. My vision blurred and I stumbled across imaginary objects. I fell to the ground with a loud thud and realisation hit me.
I had been shot.
And I was being taken.
