H:

I threw my head back, my wet hair splashing water onto the mirror in front of me "ugh" I muttered.

I walked out of the bathroom sleepily rubbing my eyes and slowly finished getting ready.

Damn school.

"morning, sir" i joked as i patted the sitting old man as i passed him at the table, to which he replied with a scowl "too early for talking" he mumbled.

I chuckled at his annoyance. Then moved to grab my cup of coffee. Sighing in bliss as i sip the delicious bitterness.

I finish my coffee and get up, grab my stuff and a banana.

Cuz, breakfast is the most important meal of the day..

..Also, because they were ripe and were gonna be thrown away if we don't eat them quickly.

I internally pat myself on the back, thinking about how Such a great of a person i am.

"Wish me luck!" I call, walking to the door, and i get no reply from my non-morning-person of a father.

Please god, let this day go by peacefully and as non- eventful as possible.

"Heleen Surkin?" The woman at the front desk asked with a smile and i nodded.

She passed me my schedule "Have a great day" she beamed, i nodded and mumbled a 'thanks' before i moved, in search of my first class.

You know, exciting stuff..

I could feel curious eyes on me as I walked through the halls, as i sat at my first class waiting for the teacher to make an appearance,

Not that i cared much, this is a small town after all and apparently, they don't see many new faces. Which is why it'd take them some time before they calm down about having new people coming around..dad's words.

I suddenly felt a tab on my shoulder, interrupting my thoughts, but I chose to ignore it.

But then the tabbing continued,

Tab.

Tab.

Tab.

I sighed in exasperation and looked behind me, expectedly, at the wide-eyed asian girl with large glasses. "Hi!"she was shaking in what i hoped to be excitement.

i nodded curtly in reply and turned back, facing the board again.

I know that Im not exactly keeping the promise i made to dad, that I'd try to be nicer and more friendly, but I'm not exactly friendly.

It's never been easy for me to just have little talks with random people, or ever put any effort into making friends, so that little me wouldn't be so lonely.. bleh i much rather be on my own.

I much prefer my own company.

The friends i do have are more than enough, and I get sick of them at times.

It's mostly hasn't been a problem for me, people usually don't bother approaching me, or they simply give up after they realize how far im willing to go at pushing them away. It also doesn't help the case that I suffer from severe RBF.

Tab.

Tab.

Deep breath, Heleen. Violence is never the answer.

"I just wanted to welcome you to our town, you have no idea how exciting it is to have new people. It never happens! Heleen, we're so gonna be besties!" the, I assumed, same girl whispered, loudly and too close to my ear, while many heads turned our way.

"Um thanks" i said, throwing a look at her direction, horrified at how she knows my name.

She grinned hugely and opened her mouth to speak, but I turned around as the teacher started the class. And I sighed in relief

Thank you teacher, saved my hearing ability.

The staring and whispers continued through my following classes and as i was walking around trying to find my locker, although thankfully, no one talked to me this time.

It was hard enough trying to escape the overly excited Kim.

Right now, I'm just in a desperate need of the comfort of food.

"Why so serious?" I heard a guy say from beside me as i shut my locker, and I almost scoffed at the non-creativity.

"I can tell you've had a bad day, it'll help if you look at me. Trust me, it works with everyone" he said cockily.

I sigh internally, as i turn my head to look at him with a blank face.

"There you go!" He exclaimed smirking, running his hand through his dark blond hair.

"Can i help you?" I asked, not so sweetly.

He looked surprised by my bluntness for a few seconds, before he
straightened.

"Yeah, as a matter of fact you can. Let's start with your num-" i cut him off by pushing pass him and walked towards the cafeteria.

If i had to hear him finish that sentence, I would've gotten in trouble on my first day of school, for punching a guy in the face.
