Tiffany ran through the woods, running as fast as she could. She dodged each and every tree and tried her best to avoid the rocks and other things on the ground. There was no way she wanted to trip and waste time in such a place. Tiffany didn't bother to look over her shoulder, but she could already tell they were coming in from behind. Animals all around her whispered warning, telling her to run faster and beware. She was afraid, probably just as afraid as those little animals hiding. She needed to be brave and end this. Where to go? Should she just stop and climb a freaking tree? She remembered Luke telling her that there was a river close by. If she could cross that, she would be safe. Would she really be safe though? She could only try. Tiffany breathed heavily as she studied her surroundings. She was coming up to a steep hill that made her panic. Where to go now? She did something she should have never done. Tiffany looked over her shoulder and shrieked. The wolves were way closer than she thought possible. She stumbled closer to the steep hill and lost her footing. She tried to grab something, but found nothing. Tumbling down the steep hill was totally not fun and it hurt like hell. She swore she tumbled down it for almost a minute. Once she was done rolling, she opened her eyes slightly and looked up at the full moon hovering in the night sky. For a split second, she found peace and something inside her moved. After that, fear took place. What was that?
Stand up and start moving, don't wait another minute. Said a feminine voice from within.
"Who are you?" She murmured to the voice.
She heard no response and frowned. Was it just her? Maybe this whole wolf thing was getting to her. Tiffany stood on shaky legs and cried out in pain as soon as she noticed the deep gash in her thigh. That wasn't good. What was she to do? She couldn't limp away. She needed to run as fast as she could or they would get her. She already wasted enough time rolling down the damn hill. Tiffany began to run, even though the pain was terrible and every time she put pressure on that leg, a sharp pain would shoot up it. The blood flowed down her leg like a river. She just wanted to lay down and relax. Sadly, she couldn't even do that. Tiffany heard a howl in the distance, making her tense up as she ran.
Run... The feminine voice whispered inside her head.
There it was again. Suddenly, her vision cleared and the pain was no longer so bad. She ran even faster than she knew was possible. Right in her view was the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir, it was only a few feet away. Tiffany felt the adrenaline flowing in her veins big time now. She speed towards the Reservoir and before she reached it, something smashed into her, knocking her over. Her head spun from dizziness. She was trapped and could feel a muzzle against her face. Freezing in place, she took a deep breath and looked up into wolf eyes that made fear pound through her. This wolf was different. She could also tell it was a female wolf too. The wolf growled as saliva dripped from her sharp long canine teeth. She had hate in her eyes.
I won't let you take my man! Ruth's voice boomed in Tiffany's head.
Ruth may not have control over her wolf, but both wolf and woman thought alike and that made the wolf even more dangerous. It seemed that even Ruth's wolf wanted Darius.
Fight her back. The feminine voice growled in her head.
Who was that? Was she going crazy? She had never heard that voice, never.
"I will not let you overcome me!" Tiffany growled back, her own voice no longer human.
