April Conners stepped into her new home as if she had just walked into heaven. Although there weren't any pearly gates, angels singing, or golden streets she still felt like she had just purchased a piece of heaven.
April had been saving up for this very special moment since she became an Attorney at Newman and Newman Law firm.
She knew her ultimate plan was to buy a home on the waterfront. She always loved the water, and the sound of the waves brushing up against the shore had such a calming effect on her.
She could feel her father looking down from heaven and smiling at her as to say, "Well done."
She knew he would be proud of her many accomplishments, she thought as a single tear escaped her eye. She and her father had a father-daughter bond that was tighter than Crazy Glue.
Her father had died of a sudden heart attack that claimed his life immediately leaving her and her mother to fend for themselves.
Her mother had to work two jobs just to put her through school, because she always wanted her to have a better life than hers.
After being Valedictorian in high school and college April attended Stanford Law School, and ranked in the top ten of her class.
April went from room to room looking at each and every room admiring it as if this was the first time she had ever seen them. The living room was her favorite room of them all. It was straight out of Better Homes and Garden.
She had bought the red Italian living room set from Ashley furniture. The lamps were silver based with white and red shades. The glass cocktail table was a fish tank with some imported fish in it. The end tables came from a store in China Town. They were crystal glass trimmed in red. The area rug under the glass cocktail table had a beautiful maroon and floral pattern throughout the rug.
The fire place on the wall would be a wonderful way to keep the chill off during those long winter nights.
The pictures on the wall were from an art gallery from downtown that she had attended when she went there for an art exhibit.
April walked into the dining room and thought about all the parties she would be able to host in her new home.
The furniture in the dining room was slightly different than that in the living room. The table was red maple wood with six chairs, and two captain chairs. The chandelier hung midways the ceiling hovering over the table casting tear drops on it, and sparkles on the wall once it was turned on.
The walls were basically windows that surrounded the house even upstairs in the bedrooms. April wanted to be able to look out at the water twenty-four hours a day. She didn't want walls to confine her, or to make her fill closed in.
She was a lawyer and she knew what close quarters felt like from the prisoners that she represented. She never wanted to experience that, and that is why she wanted the sense of freedom throughout her house.
The roof in the master bedroom had a sky light in it so that the stars would give off the appearance of her sleeping under the stars.
The master bedroom was a room within a room which had a canopy bed draped with some curtains surrounding it. The furniture was all white from the dressers, to the shaggy rug on the floor.
A white vanity sat off to one side of the room giving it a more lady like appeal. There was a remote-control fireplace centered on the wall opposite the bed for when the blankets on the bed couldn't give her that extra warmth when needed.
