Sam let out a sigh as leaned up against the Impala. Gabriel was standing next to him with a lollipop stuck in his mouth. He seemed to just have an endless supply of lollipops hidden in different pockets of his leather jacket.

"Where's your brother?" Gabe asked as he looked around through the crowds of people.

"I have no idea," Sam mumbled grumpily.

"Hey, Gabe!"

They both turned to see Cas walking towards them. There was no sign of Lucifer or the others following him. Cas had now traded his leather jacket for a black My Chemical Romance t-shirt and the sun made his blue hair stand out even more. Sam could now see even more tattoos covering Cas' arms. He shoved his hands into the pockets of his ripped jeans as he stopped next to them.

"You ready to go?" Cas asked as he looked at Gabe.

"I'm waiting with Sam for his brother," Gabe replied as he shook his head.

"Ok cool. I'll wait with you." Cas nodded as he turned his attention back to the school. "So Sam are you in Gabe's class?"

"I'm in his year but not his class," Sam explained.

Sam knew Dean wouldn't want him talking to Cas but maybe it would help with his and Gabes plan if Dean could see that Cas wasn't that bad.

Dean knocked on the door and waited for a response signaling that he could come in.

"Come in," Rowena called.

Dean walked in and awkwardly stood just inside the door as he looked around the room and played with the strap of his bag.

"Oh, Dean." Rowena sounded surprised as she looked up and noticed him standing there. "What's da matter now?"

"Uh, I just wanted to say thanks for earlier. I needed it."

"Dean there's no need for that now, it's really notta bother." Rowena smiled at him.

Dean nodded but made no attempt to move and just dropped his eyes to the ground.

"Everything ok?" Rowena asked as she walked over to him.

"Ya, I'm just heading home now." Dean managed after a minute.

"I'm leaving too, come on I'll walk you down." Rowena offered as she held the door open.

The walk down was quite apart from the tap of Rowena's high heels on the floor. Everyone else had already left the school an hour ago but Dean had stayed behind for detention. Rowena put her hand on Dean's shoulder to stop him just as they reached the door.

"Dean please be careful I'd hate to see ya get hurt." Her tone was serious and laced with concern. "And take care of Sammy, I don't want anything to happen to either of you."

"Trust me Crowley or Lucifer won't lay a hand on him,"Dean promised.

"Damn right my son won't. Maybe you beat some sense into him today." Rowena sighed. "Hanging around with Lucifer ruined him, but that wasn't who I was talking about."

Rowena gave Dean a sympathetic look but Dean just turned away and looked out the door.

"What the hell," He said his voice rising as he looked out the door.

Rowena followed his eyes to where his car was parked outside the school. Castiel was standing in front of San looking down at him and Gabriel was standing beside him. Sam looked uncomfortable and was looking down at the ground.

"Who does he think he is," Dean growled and he opened the door.

"Don't do anything stupid Dean!" Rowena called but Dean was already halfway down the path.

"Get the hell away from him!" Dean shouted as he pushed Cas away.

"Woah!" Cas held his hands up in surrender as he backed away. "I'm not looking to fight I was just talking to the kid."

"Don't lie to me!"

"I'm not I swear! We were just talking!"

"Why the fuck were you talking to him anyway?" Dean demanded.

"Look Gabe was with him, they were waiting for you I was just with my brother," Cas explained keeping his voice calm.

"Well, I don't want you anywhere near my brother," Dean warned as he straightened up and looked down at Cas.

"Alright fine ok." Cas nodded

"Dean stop! We were just talking and I've already had to wait for you to finish detention so can we just go?" Sam begged.

"Fine. Get in the car." Dean snapped not taking his eyes off Cas. "Stay the fuck away from him." This time the warning was directed at Gabriel who had stayed silent the entire time.

Sam gave Gabriel a half smile as he got into the back of the Impala.

"Maybe next time." He mouthed as Dean started the engine.

"Whats his problem?" Gabe questioned as they watched Dean speed off down the road.

"I have no idea," Cas admitted.

There was clearly a reason Dean was like this, there had to be. Cas wanted to know what it was, no, he needed to know and he wouldn't be happy until he found out. No matter what it took he was going to find out more about Dean Winchester. No matter the risk he was going to crack Dean.
