There was no way out of where I am.
I was stuck, no where to go.
Free for anyone, or anything to do whatever.
I wasn't in control.
I allow myself to lay out in a corner and wait for the next strike. The whip of a string collides on my back, my shouts and screams getting muffled from the gag I had wrapped around my mouth. I continue to cry and scream as he continues to whip me.
"Get you're ass up, now!" He shouted at me, his grip on the whip getting tighter and tighter.
I slowly get up and lean on the wall for balance. My blood was running down my back and onto the floor. My sharp breathing begins to quiet down as my father stares me up and down. He gives off his small smirk and walks up closer to me, dropping the whip in the process.
"Look at you, you're weak. I don't want my poor daughter to be weak. I want you to be strong." He sighs, placing his hands onto my chin.
I jump slightly at his cold touch. His breath smelled of alcohol, but that didn't stop him from placing a kiss on my forehead.
"Now, go to your room and think about what you did..." He growls, pushing me on the floor.
I hit the floor with a thud and gasp for air as he leaves me to myself. With all of my effort, I slowly get up and limp to my room. The only place where I can be myself. I open my small curtain to my room and look at the small space. All I had for a bed was a pile of papers, but my family had the cotton and other soft objects that we borrow. We live in the walls of this Giant/Giantess home. We're what you call "Borrowers," and we are just small beings. People usually refer to us as, "Human rodents," or just "Those freaky hairless looking rats."
I have a mom, dad, and a older brother. My mother was fine, but she just doesn't stand up for me or my brother. My father manipulates her to think that I'm a mistake. She doesn't do anything about him abusing me. My brother, he doesn't even know that our father still abuses me. Whenever he does see a bruise or cut, I just tell him that I got injured while borrowing. I have to lie to my brother, or I get hurt more. I crawl inside my small room and clean up my cuts. After I clean and bandage my wounds. I place on a new shirt, and lean back onto the wall. An hour or so passes by, and all I did was sit there, staring into space.
"Hey (Y/n)." I hear a voice cheer, peeking their head through the curtains.
"Sage?" I whisper.
"Wanna go out and borrow with me?" He asks.
I slowly nod my head and crawl out of my room. My brother smiles and helps me out of my little oom. I wanted to do anything but go borrow right now, but I honestly rarely get to go borrowing, so why not?
We crawl out of the hole that entered the kitchen. We run across the side of the floor and listen for anyone walking around. We then run across to the living room and under the couch.
"What are we borrowing for?" I ask, watching as Sage starts to climb the wooden basket that sat right next to the couch.
"We need more needles, and needles we shall get!" He chuckles, throwing himself at the top of the basket. "You coming?"
I smile and climb up behind him. He helps me up at the top and smiles as he looks at the different arrangements of the balls of yarn, fabrics and needles.
"Bingo!" He smiles, reaching down to grab himself a few needles from this container. I help pull him up and laugh as we both fall onto the wooden floor.
We both get up and look at each other. He laughs and gets up, picking up the needles. I get up with him and notice that he was thinking of something.
"Hey, how bout we practice fighting tonight? We can go to our den and put these up!" He smiles.
"Sure." I giggle.
We both run to the den and drop of the needles. We keep two of them with us and run to the front door. There was a small gap in the front door, making it easy for us to crawl through and end up on the porch. The sunset was perfect tonight, and I couldn't help but stare at aw. This was some of the best memories I had with my brother, and they always will be.
I smile at my brother as he holds up one of the needles and smirks. I hold up my needle and smirk back at him. He ends up charging at me as I dodge his attack. We end up practicing for a good while, until the sun was almost completely gone. We sit down with our feet hanging off the porch and look at the sun, watching as the clouds gently pass over.
"This never gets old." Sage sighs, laying down on his back.
"Yeah, it never does." I nod, still watching the sunset.
"We need to do this more often, its rare for us to go out anymore." He chuckles.
"Only if were allowed to." I mumble.
"Hey, (Y/n), what happened to your back?" He asked.
I feel the back of my shirt and realize that my blood has bled through the bandages and the back of my shirt. I start to panic and think of excuses to tell him, but before I could, he gently lifts the back of my shirt and notices the very bloody bandages.
"Damn it..." He growls, brushing his hands against my back.
"I-it's not what you think." I stutter, getting a eye roll in response.
"I know exactly what it is, and here I thought that he stopped his stupid drinking and abuse!" He huffs, getting up and walking to the house.
"No, Sage, please!" I yell, running in front of him.
"What?!" He growls. I slump in my place and look down as he shouted at me. He places his fingers on his nose and sighs, realizing his mistake.
"Look, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell." He sighs, giving me a hug.
"I just don't want him to start hurting you or mom, but I can't take it anymore, I-I don't know what to do..." I sniffle, hugging him back.
"You know what we should do?" He asks, making me look up at him.
"We should run away, and borrow at a new home!" Sage smiles.
"What?! No, leave mom here with him?!" I shout.
"Forget them, shes just as guilty as he is! Being the bystander and not doing anything is just as bad as pulling the trigger! Unlike them, I wanna do something about it and run off!" He says.
I thought about it. It could be one of the most dangerous things we've done, but will it help my brother and I get a better life? We won't be dealing with just our parents once they figure out we ran off, but the outside world is just as dangerous as the inside world. I look up at my older brother and notice the determination in his eyes. He's always been the muscle in the family. He might just be stronger than dad if we were to put them to the test. He was also smart too, so it didn't seem to be such a bad idea. I nod and smile, watching as his smile grew bigger.
"So its decided then, we run away by tomorrow!" He smirks.
I don't feel so good about this...
