It was my birthday today. I asked my boyfriend to go out at lunch time. I want to celebrate this very special day with him. We've been together for almost 7 years. Pretty long, right? We are also planning to get married this year. Yes, we're engaged but we still live in a separate homes. He proposed to me last year and that was the happiest moment of my life. Our relationship was really happy. But it all changed when I got my work almost a year by now. If we're going to marry this year, I want a stable job so I worked really hard. I became so busy that we rarely see each other anymore. We barely talk even through phone because of my very busy schedule. I was hired as a writer. I write both songs and story scripts. All I'm facing everyday was my papers and pen. We lost all our time together. That's why I want to make it all up for him. And this is the best time for it.

I almost jump when I hear my phone ring. Ugh, it startled me. It's a call conference.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEYRILLE!"

I feel like my eardrums just got broken because of their loud voices. Jeez! How did I get these friends of mine again?

"Thank you guys"

I happily said to them. I really love these 2 girl friends of mine. They've been by my side for almost 10 years. Yes, longer than my boyfriend or should I say fiancee. They're my friends since high school. And I can say that I am so lucky to have them as my bestfriends. Their names are Marlene and Anastasia.

"We're coming over. We'll celebrate!" said Anastasia

We usually celebrate our birthdays all together. But since I met Nathan, I spend my birthday with him. It's hard to say no to my friends after hearing their very excited voice but I really want to make up with Nathan. I'm pretty aware that our relationship is coming out of hand because of my work. And I am the only one who can fix it.

"I'm sorry, girls but I'll meet with Nathan today. You know what I mean, right?"

There's a long silence from the other lines. They're disappointed, I know. I can't blame them though. I promised them last year that we'll party on my birthday.  I made them expect for nothing.

"I'm really sorry. But we can still party tomorrow if you want? It's on me."

I add trying to convince both of them. I heard a loud sigh from them before they respond.

"It's okay. We understand that you want to make up with your boyfriend. But I won't forgive you if you're still busy tomorrow. I'll definitely eat you alive"

Marlene said in a very scary tone. She's trying to scare me but I still laugh at her. She's always like that. She's always the lively one among us. She's kinda childish compare to the mature Anastasia. While me? I guess I'm in the middle. Hahaha.

"Hey hey! Don't you dare laugh at me woman. I'm trying to be scary here"

"Hahaha. Okay okay. I'm sorry. That turns out to be cute not scary. Hahaha!"

"I know I'm cute. You don't have to say it out loud."

"Ew Marlene. Do you hear yourself? That's just so disgusting!"

Anastasia's rebuttal made me laugh out loud. And now they're fighting on the other lines. Not a real fight though. That's how we chat everyday. We're used in pissing each other. Just like what real friends does.

"Okay stop now. I need to hang up. I have to make myself CUTER and prettier than anyone here for my date. Bye now girls. I love you both! Mwuah"

I hanged up. I didn't give them the chance to respond because I know they won't accept what I just said and will definitely opposed the word cute that I just emphasized. That's just the way they are.
