Hardest thing

"Castro, Sheena M." the Dean called. I stand as I watch my younger sister walked up the stage to get her diploma. She clutched it near her heart and look at my direction, I waved my hand and gave her a thumbs up which she answered with a nod and a sweet smile. After Sheena si Timothy naman ang tinawag para kunin ang kanyang diploma.

I felt a squish in my hand and a tap on my shoulder, I looked behind me and see my mom crying. Parang Kailan lang pero eto at natapos na din sa kolehiyo ang dalawa kong kapatid.

"Finally" she said as tears ran to her face.

"Yes, I wish dad is here to see this moment" I whisper as I gave her a hug.

My father died five years ago. Life wasn't easy after he left. I gave up a lot to support the family since I am the eldest. I was on my last year in college when he was diagnosed with liver cancer and right there and then I know I have to quit school to get a job to provide for the family. Sheena and Tom are in their secondary at that time and my mom can't afford to send us all to school. Luckily I was able to get a work at a coffee shop.. not a good paying one but enough to provide for our needs.

Few months after I realized that having a single job is not enough I asked the help of my uncle and he was able to land me a job on the restaurant that he is working. Since then things has been hard for me but it did help a lot ( financially ) to my family.

FLASHBACK

"I'm sorry Xander" I whispered as I turn my back to the only guy I love.

"Is this all easy for you?" I can hear the anger in his voice. "Just tell me what's happening coz I deserve to know! I thought were in this together?"

"It's better this way Xander..please don't make this hard for me" I hold up my tears but he grabbed my arms and demand to look him in his eyes.

"I thought you love me?" his brown eyes is begging for truth.

"Sometimes love isn't everything" then walked away.. away from the person whose face I'll never forget.
