"Shit." Skye breathed. The Shadows advanced on us, ready for the kill. In the corner of my eye, I saw Casey pull out her dagger. I grinned a little. I turned towards a Shadow that was coming right for me. I narrowed my eyes and focused on igniting the fire. A small ball of it formed in my hands and I immediately threw it at the Shadow. I saw Skye blasting one with water, Phoenix copying himself and taunting the Shadows, and then there was Casey. She was killing them left and right. What had been around 20 Shadows, was now about 8. The one that I was focused on screamed out as I used my mind to rip into its soul, it's secrets, everything about it I knew in an instant. My heart beat a little faster as it's grey eyes began to glow. Images, painful images tore through my mind. My mother screaming, everyone screaming. Then they stopped. I opened my eyes to see Casey standing over the Shadow with her dagger bared. It faded, and I mouthed "Thank You" to her. She nodded and reached her hand down to help me up. A Shadow appeared behind her, stretching it's icy cold hands out towards her. My eyes widened and I screamed out her name. Those green eyes went wide with terror as she felt the Shadows grip. She fell to her knees, unconscious. Bloody gashes began appearing on her face, she screamed out in pain. I ripped the dagger from her hands and plunged it into the Shadow. It leaned in close to my ear, and whispered faintly "Too late." Then it was gone, faded into the wind. Panting, I looked around the room. Skye was in the corner of the room, leaning against the wall, breathing heavily. Phoenix was looking around, I assumed trying to find alcohol to numb the pain of the gash on his leg. Casey was in the fetal position, her eyes were open wide and she was shaking violently. I rushed over to her, yelling at Skye to help.

"Did the Shadow touch her neck?" He asked. I nodded frantically. "Aw, Shit. Shit Shit SHIT" I stared at him.

"What?" I asked, alarmed. He looked at me and massaged his temples. "You know, people like us. Bad things happen to us. Your parents, you having to watch them be tortured until death. Having to see and hear the screams of your baby brother getting beaten repeatedly. My dad, my sister screaming for me. Phoenix, he won't talk about it but we know something happened to his family, his friends, everyone he loved." I gulped and nodded, fighting back tears. "Well, the shadows focus on those awful memories, and make you remember them. The Shadow touched her neck because it was transferring the memories to her, she's in a comatose state right now, just reliving awful things over and over." My mouth dropped open. "H-how long will she be in the coma?" I asked. Skye shook his head. "Probably another hour or so." he said. She let out a bloodcurdling scream. Phoenix walked into the room holding a bottle of whiskey. He looked at Casey, then at Skye. Skye have him a quick nod in response. Phoenix sighed. "Alright let's get her into the car, and fast." I knelt down and gingerly picked her up. I could feel her hot breath on my ear and it sent shivers down my spine. I began to hum "If It Means A Lot To You" by ADTR softly. Her whimpers and mini screams quieted down a little as we set her into the car. She immediately went into the fetal position and shut her eyes tight. Phoenix jumped into the car and immediately started blasting "Back in Black" as loud as it would go. Casey screams got more intense a she began to shake again. I leaned forward and punched Phoenix hard in the arm. He rolled his eyes and turned it off. I awkwardly placed an arm around Casey and pulled her into me. Phoenix looked at us and grinned, but didn't say anything. Skye twirled around and wiggled his eyebrows at me, but there was something else there, was it..hurt? I quickly brushed that idea aside and plugged in my headphones. I closed my eyes and was soon asleep.
