Chapter 4

Jay's POV

I pull into the parking lot of the apartment complex and Val and I get out and head up to my apartment.  I unlock the door and we both head in.  I set my things down and head over to the kitchen. 

"Hey you want anything?" I asked Val

"I'll just have a water.  Thanks" she said

I grab myself a beer and a water bottle for Val.  I head over to the couch and hand her the water before sitting down next to her. 

"This place really hasn't changed a bit.  Everything's still in its same spot" said Val

"Yeah, I really haven't touched anything.  Notice all of the pictures are still up..." I said sipping my beer

"Yeah, I noticed"

"What happened to us?"

"You really need to talk about this right now? You know what happened. I don't have to explain anything to you.  You cheated.  That's it"

"You could've stayed and we could've worked it out.  Instead, you walked out"

"I didn't want to be in a relationship with someone who cheats and I still don't"

"Come on Val, why do you hate me so much.  You know that I regret what I did"

"That was the worst day of my life.  I had something important to tell you but you were too busy with that chick in our bed to notice I was even there"

"What'd you have to tell me?"

"Nothing.  It's not important anymore" Val said wiping her tear streaming down her face

"Oh" I said before there was a knock on my door.  I headed over and it was Antonio and Adam

"You guys got a second?" Adam asked

"Yeah come on in" I said

"We found out who attacked you and we found this, in your mailbox at the precinct" said Antonio pulling out a package from his pocket and handing it to Valerie

She opens it and it was the flash drive she was talking about earlier. 

"Is there anything else in the packet?" Adam asked

"Yeah a note that says "Well well well, looks like someone's got a secret.  Let's just hope Jay doesn't find out.  I'll see you soon Valerie.  We'll meet again" . Yeah thats the note" said Val

"Now I wanna know the secret" I said

"Can I see the flash drive please?" Antonio asked

"Yeah you can go through it, but don't go through the personal folder" said Val

"I'm sorry Val, but we gotta go through everything" said Adam

"You promised Adam!" said Val

"I know. I'm sorry, but i have to.  It's protocol" said Adam

"Well, Jay if you wanna know so bad. Here's your chance.  I'm heading over to the firehouse.  Let me know when you're done" said Val getting up and grabbing her stuff

"Val please stay" I said grabbing her arm

"I don't want to.  I gotta go" she said before leaving

I head over to where Antonio and Adam is.  Adam takes out his laptop and then plugs in the flash drive. Five folders pop up each labeled differently being journals, pictures, documents, videos, and confidential which was locked.  Antonio and Adam goes through them making sure there was no threat in them.  Once they reached the confidential file, they unlocked it and there was a 10 minute video.
