As you guys can probably tell from the title, this little piece is gonna be about how Tom Hiddleston changed my life. I know, sounds cliched right? As cliche as it may sound, it's nothing but the truth. Seriously.
How did this "change" begin you ask? Well, like any good story, I suppose I shall start from the beginning. It all started back in 2011 when Thor came out. Now back then, I was 10 years old and I wasn't really all that into live-action films. However, when I saw Thor and Loki showed up, my first thought was "Oh my God he's hot..." No joke. You may sit there and laugh, but I'm quite serious.
So I sat there and watched the entire movie, beginning to end and I loved it. But there was one character in particular that I loved more than any of them. You may have guessed who that is by now and if you have guessed it, then congratulations! If you haven't, then I'm just gonna tell you. It's Loki. I fell in love with the character and not only that but but I thought the guy who played as Loki was good looking. So one day in 2012, I decided to look up who played as Loki.
That's when Tom's name and picture showed up just like this:

I then proceeded to look at all of the shows/movies he's been in. I found out that he was gonna be in The Avengers and Thor: The Dark World, so I thought to myself "Ooh I wanna see these." Of course I watched both of them and I loved them cause I got to see Loki (aka, my baby). And that's the funny thing, really. When I was little, I watched the animated Avengers series on TV and whenever Loki would show up, I would always boo him and cheer the Avengers on.

However, when I got older and I started to really pay attention to the movies and to Loki himself, I grew to like him and now I love him. And trust me, that's the shortened version of that story. I won't go into too much detail about that cause there is a limit to this writing, but anywayssss... Needless to say, I love Loki to death now because of Tom Hiddleston.
Tom Hiddleston has changed my life in so many ways, it's not even funny. I know I'm probably going all over the place with this, but this is where I go into full on detail about it. So ever since I found out about Tom Hiddleston being the one to play as Loki, he became my favorite actor instantly. Don't get me wrong, I love other actors/actresses out there, but Tom is at the very top of my list, and I don't think anyone is going to replace him for me. Besides being my favorite actor, he's an inspiration to me.
Tom has very good acting skills, plus he loves what he does. Watching him in almost every production and/or interview he was ever in has made me realize something: I want to be an actress because I want to inspire people to do what they want to do just like Tom has done and continues to do. I know this may sound weird, but when I watch something with Tom in it, I always observe and pay close attention to the way he carries the character, how he delivers his lines, etc. Doing that has actually helped me. I managed to get the female lead in a play called The Door by Paul Elliott that was held at my high school. Tom is pretty much always telling people to go follow their dreams and whatever is burning inside of them, so that's what I did. Not only that, but he gives it his best effort and 100% all the time, at least in my honest opinion. Apart from being an inspiration to me, he's also my role model.
The way he inspires people every day, his positive outlook on life, his personality in general is something I really look up to. Speaking of his personality, he and I have the same type of personality. To me, that is the most awesome thing in the world. I mean, who wouldn't think that? To have the same personality as their inspiration, role model, and hero? Oops, did I say hero? Sorry, I'm getting ahead of myself, heh.
Thomas William Hiddleston is my hero. I know he's a hero to other people as well, but to me personally, he's my hero because well... Allow me to elaborate. Whenever I'm sad and I need some cheering up, I watch a movie/show/interview with him in it, and I can't help but smile and laugh a little every time I see him. That may sound weird, but as I've said before it's nothing but the truth. But he's also my hero because he tries to make other people happy. Haven't you guys ever noticed that when Tom is in the same room as someone, that person can't help but smile? Well, that's how I am.
One of my life goals is to meet him in person one day. But the possibility of that ever happening is impossible to very slim. One can dream though, right? And since I know that I may not be able to meet him in person one day, I decided to write him a letter. I haven't sent it off yet, mainly cause I kept rewriting it over and over again. I know, silly right? I can't help it though. I mean, what are you supposed to tell the one person you look up to more than anyone, the one who you consider to be your hero? My letter is finalized and ready to go, I just have to send it off and hope and pray he gets it and responds to it.
But since I found out who Tom was, I can easily say that my life has gotten slightly better. Seeing as I have depression since it runs in my family and my self-esteem is completely shot, having someone like Tom around makes it a bit better. I personally believe that we need more people in this world like Tom. If we had more people like him in the world, then maybe, just maybe, the world would be a better place.
Oh and you guys remember some of the quotes he says, right? Well I have 3 of them that I really love. They are as follows:
•Never, ever, let anyone tell you what you can and can't do. Prove the cynics wrong. Pity them for they have no imagination. The sky's the limit. Your sky. Your limit. Now, let's dance.
•I think everyone should pursue their dreams whether or not you want to play football, act, sing, become a writer or whatever you have burning inside you as you're growing up, you should pursue it.
• Never stop. Never stop fighting. Never stop dreaming. And don't be afraid of wearing your heart on your sleeve -in declaring the films that you love, the films that you want to make, the life that you've had, and the lives you can help reflect in cinema. For myself, for a long time... Maybe I felt inauthentic or something. I felt like my voice wasn't worth hearing, and I think everyone's voice is worth hearing. So if you've got something to say, say it from the rooftops.
Those are my 3 favorite quotes by Tom. I love them so much.
I wish I could meet Tom in person and just tell him all of this and thank him. Thank him for all that he's done for people whether he realizes it or not. We all have our heroes, our role models, that one person who changed our lives. For me, that person was Tom Hiddleston. ...Who's yours?
