*Note: Hi, I’ve written this for my narrative essay at school so if ever you read this story with the initials FLNL, I’m the one who wrote it. This essay was shortened for passing in our reading and writing subject but the plot is the same. Now, what I published here is the complete story with all those conversations and events. This might be short for the typical wattpad stories but I hope you’ll love it.

Fate---the dictionary defined it as “the future that someone will have”. Some people say, “You can’t escape your fate” while some would say, “You can change your fate as long as you’re brave enough to do it.” As for me, I am still confused whether to let my fate guide me or I would write my own. I do not even know who I am. Who my real parents are or where I came from.

My name is Shino Yuma, an adopted son of a farmer. He said he found me in a box in his farm when I was a baby. His wife died giving birth to one of their daughters. I just found out that I was adopted three years ago when I was 17 years old. I guess I’m not planned by my parents that’s why they abandoned me. That crap about fate does not really bother me until a month after I turned twenty. I keep having this strange feeling that someone is calling me. I can’t here this someone though… I just feel him. I tried telling father about it but even he cannot explain.

We live in Kurahashi Village. A small village consisting of 51 houses only. We work in the farm to pay our taxes to Master Sugaya. Master Sugaya owned hundreds of hectares and was formerly a king but now he is under King Harl, a monstrous king from Rizatsu clan who goes around conquering kingdoms and killing anyone who resists. We live in fear for King Harl can manipulate minds and he can make people explode just by touching them. The elders of our village refused to pay more taxes for King Harl at first then the King made them explode one by one. That is why most of the people of the village die of starvation.

“Silver! Father’s looking for you!” I turned and saw my sister, Manami-aneki, at our house’s door. They call me Silver sometimes instead of Shino because of my silver colored hair. I ran to the house and found father talking with a middle-aged woman. “Come here, son”, father said when he saw me standing at the door. We both sat facing the woman. She smiled at me and said, “Too bad. You look a lot more like your father but… you got your mother’s eyes.” My forehead wrinkled. “Ah, excuse me but… you know my mother?” I asked. “Shino, this is Sekai, your real mother’s best friend. She brought you here 20 years ago,” father said. My eyes widened. “But you said that you found me in your farm”, I told him and he replied, “Yes, but I needed to lie to you… to protect you.” “Protect me from what?” “From King Harl. Harl wants you dead ever since you were born”, Sekai-san answered. “Why would King Harl wants me dead?” Sekai-san turned to Manami-aneki and Okuda-aneki, my sisters, and nodded to them. They both started closing all windows and doors after checking if anyone is watching or listening.

“20 years ago, when you were still in your mother’s womb, a prophecy was written. It says there that one day, someone will rise and kill King Harl. The child will burn his body to the ground along with everything that he owns. Harl ordered his men to kill every boy they could find. The news spread like wild fire. Your mother and I ran away a day after your birth to hide you from the King. Your mother was still weak from giving birth and died along the way. I took you here because I know that Harl’s men are looking for me and if I was caught, we’ll both die.” I literally stared at Sekai-san still cannot believe of what I have heard. All these years, I thought my real mother abandoned me. It took me a moment to realize that I wasn’t the only one surprised. “You knew. You all knew and you never told me”, I told my family. “It was to protect you, Silver. You’re our only hope in putting an end to this hellish world”, Okuda-aneki said. “This is your fate, son. It is your duty to save us all. All those hard works you’ve done every day were meant to train your body”, father added. “We need you, Silver”, Minami-aneki followed.
