With a sigh, Minho closes the door to his apartment.
It's a simple one, with just enough rooms and equipments to live a full life there, but it's good enough for him, since he lives alone. If his parents knew, they'd go mad.
He never really liked his parents. They were always a bit too interfering in his life, always wanting to make his decisions for him. If they were to choose, they'd already have him in a strict school and in an arranged marriage already. With a girl. His parents are quite conservative and religious. They believed that girls were to love boys, and boys to love girls.
They would never accept his sexuality. That's why he felt like he had to leave.
Minho moved to Seoul, away from his parents a few years ago. His excuse?
To study. His family let him since the school he got into was one of the best. One one condition.
He could not live alone.
Sadly enough, that turned out not to be possible, seeing as the school's dorms were already full, and even if the school helped him find an apartment, he still had to live alone.
He couldn't tell his parents. This was his chance to get away from them and the life they want him to have but he doesn't. Instead, he started lying to his parents about an imaginary roommate.
That's why he always feared the day where they'd come to surprise visit him.
Suddenly a melody of sharp tunes is coming from his phone in his jacket. He fumbles to get it up, hoping that it might be Jisung.
MOM is calling via Facetime
Accept Decline
Shit.
Quickly he sits down on the couch, hiding as much of the apartment as possible, and pushes the green pick up button.
"Hi Minho honey!" his mother exclaims as she and her husband appears on the screen.
"Hi mom, hi dad," Minho answers, faking a smile. "Why are you calling?"
"Oh, we just wanted to see how you're doing," his father says. "We haven't heard from you in a while, son."
Of course not, I didn't want to contact you.
"I'm fine," he answers. Looking at how he's sitting there with a half healed broken leg, and still bruises all over his body, the statement is obviously a lie.
"Is that a bruise on your cheek, Minho?" his mom says, brows furrowed together. "Did you get hurt? Did someone hurt you?"
Crap.
"It's fine, mom," he says. "I just slipped on ice, it's nothing serious."
"Are you at home?" his father asks.
"Yes."
"It's awfully quiet though..." his father sounds sceptical. Not good. Not good at all. "Where's your roommate?"
Crap crap crap.
"He's staying at his girlfriend's place tonight." It's a quick thought, but hopefully enough.
"Oh, about that," his mother starts. "When will you get a girlfriend, honey?"
Never. Girls don't attract me.
"We'll see," he just answers.
"You have friends, right?" his father asks. "And they're of good families and studies well? Are they good influences?"
"Of course."
Good enough for me to develop a crush on my best friend.
"Are you sure you don't want to move back here to us?"
"No, I'm fine."
"Don't hesitate to ask us for help, alright?"
"Okay," this is getting too much. "I need to go, I have homework."
"Take care!" both his parents chants as Minho ends the call without another word.
No way he's going to do homework at this time of the day. Instead, he just pours himself a glass of water before getting ready for sleep.
It's been a rough day, and sleep is more than welcomed the second his head touches the pillow.
An hour later, when Minho is too far lost into dreamland to hear, his phone lets out a sound.
