Best Friends

Laxus's POV

It's been six years since the old man died and I became new guild master. And 18 years since the attack of the Alvarez Empire. Also, the guild has an entire new generation of mages. They're almost as reckless as their parents.

I'm in my office until I hear...

"MASTER!"

Ugh what did these brats do now? Wait, that's Drake's voice, isn't he on a mission the metalhead's daughter? They shouldn't be back for another three days. Why do I feel like this is going to be about them fucking up?

I walk over to the door of the guild and ask "What'd ya do now?"

"W-we may o-or may not of destroyed a e-entire mountain on o-our mission..." Ryley said in a quiet voice.

"Did you get fined?"

Drake spoke up and said "No, we booked it after we got our rewards."

"Just don't let them catch you we already have enough damages to pay off already, okay? And Drake I talk to you alone?"

"Sure." The he says. We walk into my office. 

"So your dad went on another S Class mission while you were gone." I say.

"Nothing new, I really don't care, he always comes back anyways." He states in a nonchalant voice. Weird he used to go into a rage fit when his dad leaves without telling him.

"Are you really the Drake I know? As master I have to ask if of the guild members seem off. And you haven't been acting like yourself for the last few months."

"I'm fine. I just realized that I don't need my dad to be constantly present and aware of my life. Plus I still have other people in my life that are present and valued just as much or more."

"So you've finally become aware of the fact that you are absolutely whipped for metalhead and bookworm's daughter?"

"No I've known that the whole time, but I've only just realized the role she plays in my life." 

"You two have been inseparable since you were kids. She's always been beside you. The one thing that surprises most is that you realized this only now."

There's a knock on the door and we hear Ryo say as she opens the door "Are you guys done here? We need to go, Nova said she needed us to help with something."

"Yep we're done, I'm coming!" Drake says whilst giving me a glance.

As they leave the threshold of the door Ryo looks back at me and mouths a thank you. She must've been worrying about him too. She shuts the door and the silence settles.

Hey guys thanks for reading the first actual chapter of the book and sorry it's so short. I know it seems like the main character is Drake or something but I'm gonna write little chapters about the closest relationships in the guild friendship or romance.
