Oh No!!! We're Still Married!!!

Chapter 23

A few weeks later Courtney decided to surprise Ashley with lunch from her restaurant. But what she saw when she just walked into Ashley's apartment isn't what she was expecting. She saw Ashley and Daniel on the couch with Ashley straddling him making out and Daniel was about ready to take his shirt off. So before he could Courtney hurried up and cleared her throat which made the couple jump off each other and start mumbling incoherent words at her.

"Umm this isn't what it looks like." Daniel said

"Oh then what is this?" Courtney asked playfully

"Would you believe we we're practicing for a play?" Ashley said back quickly

"Umm if either of you were pursuing a career in Broadway or something but one of you happens to be a surgeon and the other owns a few bars." 

"Umm well then I guess it's exactly what it looks like." He said

"Ya think"

"So what are you doing here anyway sis?" Ashley asked

"Well I thought I would surprise you with your favorite meal for lunch." 

"Umm what I'd like to know is why didn't you knock? And I thought you locked the door?" Daniel asked

"Oh I did lock it but she has a key we always do things like this." Ashley stated

"Yeah I didn't think I would be walking into this whatever this was." 

"It was just 2 consenting adults making out." Daniel said smirking

"Is that all we are to you?" Ashley said

"Of course not" He said quickly and gave her a peck on the lips "Well I'm just gonna go. I have to meet up with Mark anyway."

"So you were just gonna be late to meet up with him just to get a quickie in with my sister and I ruined it for you. What are you meeting him for anyway?"

"Umm nothing gotta go." He said before hurrying out the door

"He's definitely hiding something Ashley."  Courtney said looking at her quizzically because she has a guilty look on her face like she's hiding something too.

"I don't know what your talking about?"

"Are you sure? Because it looks to me like your hiding something to."

"Nope I have nothing to hide well now since you found out about my relationship"

"How long has that been going on anyway?"

"Oh you know a couple of years."

"A couple of years how did you hide that from everyone and why?"

"Well you still wanted nothing to do with Mark when we first started hanging out again. So I didn't want to bother you with ever having to see him again if things got serious. And when they did we both just thought it'd be best to keep it a secret."

"I understand but you still could've told me I would've just dealt with seeing and maybe having to speak to him. But then again if he found me sooner we might've already been back together."

"Yeah I didn't know he was trying to find you till after all this." She said laughing

"Yeah I'm just glad we found each other again I was never happy with Ryan." 

"Yeah I never even liked him I just tolerated him because you were with him."

"I couldn't believe he kidnapped Rain that was the scariest moment of my life."

"Yeah that's when I knew why I had such weird vibes around him."

"Yeah I always felt weird around him I just let it go because I was just trying to forget about Mark. But no matter what he was always on mind. I'm just glad I never slept with him."

"Yeah that's a good thing. But if you never slept with him what made him so obsessed with you."

"Maybe the idea of finally sleeping with me I don't know."

"Yeah could be I guess we'll never know."

"Yeah because I'll never go visit him in jail and I hope to God he never gets out."

"Yeah that would be bad."

"Ya think. He would probably do something worse than just kidnap Rain."

"Yeah maybe let's not think about that. So let me have the food you brought for me before it gets anymore cold."

"Oh yeah here." She said holding up the bag and giving it to Ashley.

"But I'm gonna go to Mark's office and drop him off some lunch too. I love you and I'll see you later. And for now on I might just knock on your door I don't want to see anymore than I saw today." Courtney said laughing with a laugh from Ashley in return.

"Yeah that wouldn't go over to well with Mark knowing you saw his brother naked. And I love you too."

With that Courtney drove to the restaurant got some food for Mark and took it too his office.

"Good afternoon Mrs. Steeple." The receptionist said

"Good afternoon but you can just call me Courtney. Do you happen to know if Mark is busy?"

"Not that I know of his brother Daniel just left and may I say he is extremely sexy. Do you know if he is taken?"

"Yes he is" 

"No he's not" Mark said making Courtney turn around and look at him "What are you doing here?"

"I brought you lunch."

"So is he single or not."

"He's not."

"But he is. I would know if he had a girlfriend or not."

"But he does. I would know I just caught him and his girlfriend in a compromising position about a half hour or so ago."

"And who is this girlfriend of his?"

"I can't tell you. It's not my secret to tell."

"Not even to your husband."

"Nope if your curious ask your brother. He's coming back in."

"Hey Daniel who is this girlfriend no one know about except for Courtney."

"Umm it's Ashley. I'm surprised you didn't tell him Courtney."

"Nope just because he's my husband doesn't mean I tell him everything plus it wasn't my place to tell."

"Nope you should've told me and what else do you keep from me?"

"Wouldn't you like to know?"

"Uh yes that's why I said what else do you keep from me."

"Well I'm just gonna go back to work. Have fun guys with whatever you guys were doing. Good bye." She said giving Mark a peck on the lips and quickly left out the door and went back to work.
