I ran to the bus with my bookbag sloppy thrown over my shoulder. I went down the thin aisle until I reached seat nine, the heater seat. There he was once again, Thomas. I took my seat next to him a muttered a hi. He had a water bottle with what I could only assume was tea inside. He ate a pack of fruit snacks while we talked.
"Want some?" He asked once he noticed me glancing at the snack.
"Hell yeah!" I said taking a few.
"Don't hog them, Jesus." He said pulling then away from me.
"Fine!" I said eating the few a got. I had just realized I forgot to eat breakfast because I was in such a rush. I'll eat breakfast tomorrow. We arrived at school and hoped off the bus. Oh god how I hated this place. The people, the rooms, even the damn smell of it made me sick. I said good bye to Thomas as we parted ways to our different lockers. Of course I knew he wasn't going to locker. He just wanted to see his boyfriend. I wish I was happy like them.
I walked to my locker and the sight that was there didn't shock me. A crowd of people blocking my locker because I had the honor of being beside Evelyn Marie McCarter. Of course not only was she the most popular but she was also valedictorian. She was too perfect to be human. She wasn't even stuck up! I couldn't hold against her.
'You know she isn't the only person you could use to do your homework and have sex with right? There are other girls in the school who are very smart and lonely.' I thought to myself as a raked through the crowd. When I finally got to my locker, I grabbed my books and turned around to start the process all over again. When I did I was greeted with the not so friendly face of Vance McCarter, Evelyn's older brother. Unlike Evelyn, Vance was not intelligent. Although, Evelyn and Vance did share the trait of popularity.
"Where you gonna go?" He pushed me against the locker his breath smelling of weed. (This wasn't a shock to anyone around. Mr. McCarter was a well know drug dealer.) "A pretty girl like you shouldn't be walking to class alone."
"I'm sorry but she's not walking alone" said a voice from behind Vance. There stood Thomas with his boyfriend Adam.
"Oh I'm sorry fags," Vance said stepping away, "I didn't realize you ruled the school now. Last time I checked you two couldn't find girls to date so you turned to sinning together."
"Vance William McCarter." Evelyn yelled approaching her brother, "You can not call them that. Do you understand?"
"Fine." He said turning away, "Just so you know, Laura," He turned towards me. "you're a fat ass. No one will ever love you if you keep hanging out with those fags."
He walked away leaving me in the aftermath of what he had said. Fat ass. No one will ever love you. I couldn't start crying not here, not now. I started running to the girls bathroom.
"Luara!" Thomas screamed as he chased after me.
He was too late I had already locked myself in the bathroom stall. I wept like the Niagara Falls.
"Who knew," I muttered to myself, "that one little thing could make me cry? God I truly don't deserve love."
