She saw him yesterday.
Through the glass of the coffee shop. He was standing in line waiting to place his order. She, just passing by. And even though it was over. Had been over for months. She stopped mid-step at the sight of him. Calmly holding the hand of another girl. Her eyes threatened to tear up.
She used to be that girl. His attention hers. And then she scoffed and kept walking. Memories of everything he had put her through only reassuring that she was better off.
But still, she could’ve cried.
Remembering the exact moment she found out that he had cheated. Remembering the exact moment she realized to him, she was only a phase. A chapter in his life that had closed. It still stung. Knowing if he had felt the same, she would have loved him forever. Instead, everyday passes by and she buries a little more of the love she had for him. A little more and a little more until it’s gone forever. Six feet under and never to rise.
