The view overlooking the city of Yokohama could be described with many words, but beautiful is what most people would say. A young child gazed at the lights shining brightly across the buildings from the rooftop of a warehouse. Her golden eyes blankly staring at the scene as she relaxed after climbing onto the roof's edge.

"So this is where you ran off to," A soft, calm voice said.

The girl closed her eyes in defeat and refused to look back. "Have you come up here to bother me?" She asked.

"Nope, just escaping from your brute of a brother."

"Adopted brother, mind you."

"Right," The boy leisurely made his way to the girl's side and watched the city lights and the stars above them. The girl turned her head and examined him, noting his right arm in a sling and the scratches and bruises on his face.

"I heard yelling and crashes earlier. What did you do to him this time?"

"It doesn't take much to get him riled up. I just 'accidentally' chopped off his ponytail." The boy said with a grin.

The girl sighed, "You're a horrible person." She turned her attention back to the city lights, blankly taking in the view.

The boy bent slightly backwards, his back cracking a few times under the pressure. "Man, your brother knows how to pack a punch."

"I don't see why you like to mess with him knowing you'd get hurt in the process. Then again, you're just a total weirdo."

"That's mean to say." The boy pouted before his face brightened at a sudden thought, "Hey, why don't you help me with your brother so I won't get hurt as bad?"

The girl raised an eyebrow at him, "You do know that if you just leave him alone you wouldn't be in such a sorry state."

"That's impossible. You and I both know that he absolutely hates me and that I will never stop my antics."

"Fair point. But what's in it for me? I'm not gonna protect you from him for nothing."

"I'll be your best friend and make this place more bearable for you. I can tell you hate shady places like this and don't trust anyone."

"Sorry, but I don't really want you as a best friend," The girl bluntly stated.

"That's so mean!"

"Hmph. Fine. Whatever that gets you to leave me alone."

"Then it's a promise!" He held his pinky out for her, "We'll watch each other's backs and be best friends!"

"You're too enthusiastic about this... " With a sigh, she hooked her pinky with his and shook it, "It's a promise. Now go away."

"Nope! We're best friends now and best friends always stick together!" He said with a grin.

"Now I see why brother wants to punch your face in."

"But he won't cause you'll save me from him."
