Whatever time it was, I did not care. I had receded deep into my own world, where anything could happen and anyone could be anything. The cool winds of imagination had swept me away into a land where fancy was reality and all could be happy despite the valley of the walls, screaming fear into the lives of all who could hear. I was happy, in my own world, elated and prone to tears, floating through oblivion, living and laughing and crying and loving, when all of a sudden, a sharp sound that resonated through my skull like a gunshot in the middle of the woods that you knew was aimed in your direction crashed through my utopia.
Alas, i suppose it should have been foreseen. No fantasy world could last forever. "Bang!"
Once again, the sound rang through my room. By this time I was awake. I stumbled out of bed, still inebriated by the blissful unknowingness of sleep, ready to confront the source of the noise. I had enough awareness at the time to collect the thought of "It's coming from the window" I then staggered towards my window, with the curtains closed. I drew them open with the force of a grizzly bear, awoken from its winterlong hibernation early, ready to maim.
Before me was Sam, my friend whom I had been probed to remember had volunteered to help me train so I could qualify for what I wanted to be a part of, however, despite his willingness to help me, I was rather raw towards him. Sleep is an important aspect of life for me, and he had cut it short, however, i do suppose he only meant well, even though it did not exactly make me feel any different. In his hands were water bottles, on his face he championed a grin that spread from ear to ear, he obviously was amused with himself. I was not.
I decided I might as well just swallow my irritation and get through with whatever training he had planned for me, so I stumbled around putting on whatever I could find that would keep me cool in the wake of the currently rising sun. When I got down to Sam, he found it within himself that the best way to spur me into eagerness was to blow the silver whistle he wore around his neck into my ear, then scream for me to "Wake up!" Well, that seemed to be enough to get me going, except it didn't get me going to train, it got me ready to take out my unchecked aggression in him by trying to push him. Didn't work.
