The One I Once Thought You Were

Chapter 1

How could this of happened to me. Out of all days in the world; it just had to be this day. I was walking to my second hour class until I hear screaming and yelling behind me. I start running to where I see everyone standing and my eyes shot as wide as they could be.

"STOP!" I yell. Before I tell you what I saw, let me tell you the story from the beginning.

I was walking home from school since I only live 5 minutes from the high school. When I reach my house I hear laughter coming from the inside of my house. I unlock the door and find a stranger sitting at our kitchen table having coffee with my mom.

"Oh hi honey; how was school?" mom asked me with a big smile on her face.

"It was school; like everyday." I say setting my bag down next to the couch.

I look back up and see the lady looking at me. I give her half a smile because one; I have no idea who this lady is and two; I'm a very shy person when it comes to boys or just meeting new people in general. When I say this you are probably thinking; "Oh so that means you probably don't have any friends?" and I am here to tell you that I have one friend and that is my best friend Haley. She's shorter than me but has brown hair with lots of blonde strips. She is probably one of the popular kids in the school. I always ask myself why she had chose me to be her best friend. I still don't know why.

"Hi , my name is Lisa, I'm your new next door neighbor!" she said waking me up back to reality.

"I'm Avery." I say shaking her hand.

"Well I need to get back and unpack my kids stuff." Lisa said walking to the door.

She has kids? I wonder if they are my age? How many kids does she have? Does she have a son my age? A lot of questions were just floating in my mind. As Lisa walked out our house, I waved goodbye to her and walked over to my mom who was at the sink rinsing her mug out. I come behind her and give her a big hug.

"I see you made a new friend mom." I smirk to my mom.

"I had just pulled into the driveway and saw that she was moving some boxes by herself. I walked over and helped her before she dropped something. After I helped her bring all her boxes inside, I asked if she wanted a cup of coffee and now you know." mom smiled so big that it made me smile.

"Where did she move from?" I ask just out of curiosity.

"She moved here with her husband and three kids from New Jersey." mom was still smiling.

"Did she tell you anything about her kids?" I ask.

"She has one daughter and two twin boys." mom said.

After she said two twin boys my mind exploded. First I was thinking if they were fraternal or identical. My gut was telling me that they were identical.

"Earth to Avery!" mom said snapping her fingers in my face.

"Oh sorry mom." I said laughing.

"It's okay sweetheart; I want you to go get ready for dinner, and wear something nice." mom smiled.

"Why; are we going out?" I ask raising my eyebrow.

"No, but the neighbors are coming over." mom said.

Oh no; I need to dress up really cute for the boy twins. I hurried and ran to the bathroom to get in the shower. Once I got out I walked to my room and went straight to my closet. I didn't have many cute clothes but I chose to wear a blue floral dress that stopped at my knees and wore my white converse with it. I straightened my hair then started to do just some simple make-up. I looked at my phone and it read 6:47.
