CHAPTER 7
"Hope for Tomorrow"
When: Summer 2014
Where: Still Texas (still the same day)
Time: This time it was after lunch
Later that day (again) we found "collateral damage" made during the party. The tent was a mess, with broken glass across the floor, booze spilt on tables and chairs, food on the cloth of the tent curtain, songs still playing loudly and some of the guys passed out right on the spot, too tired to return to their buses.
But in all fairness everyone seemed to be happy, I know I was. That was really one of the most awesome parties I have ever been too, one that definitely needs to go down in the books. We have pictures to prove it, yeah apparently, some of the crew's hobbies were photography and yes they have proof of the awesomeness that went down here last night. We'll probably see it on Buzznet or myspace later today.
And before we realize it, it was time to say goodbye because as soon as we all woke up the bands started to leave on by one, catching their flights, driving across country or just taking the train.
As we said goodbye to each other, with a pinky promise of always updating one another, we hugged and thanked each other for the experience and good times, hoping to work with one another again in the future.
As we were saying our goodbyes to all time low and we the kings, Raven came up to us and asked if she could talk to us privately.
And so after saying goodbye we (the band with Andre and Michael) followed her in one of the buses and we saw a woman sitting there in casual clothing, as soon as she saw us she stood up.
"Hello ladies, I'm Hayley Scott. Nice to meet you guys. Please do sit." She said gesturing for us to sit. When we finally got settled she said, "I represent Red Bedroom Records, a label founded on North Carolina. We at Red Bedroom always try to search for new talents, specifically ones with causes. And after seeing you guys play at Vans, we'll we want to sign you up.
For a more formal term we want to represent you! We think women empowerment is awesome and if I am not mistaken that's what you want right?" She said with a tinge of excitement from her tone.
This was it, this was finally it, a label wanting to represent us! OMG, thank you God! Our prayers are finally answered, we are catching the biggest break of our lives. Things just really keep getting better and better, we were all in complete and utter shock.
This was what happened next seeing that we were in awe (meaning we have yet to process what is happening),
"Ok, seeing you guys are all in shock. I'm going to give you time to think about it. How's about a day?" Hayley asked.
"No, wait! Can you just give us a minute please?" I asked with nervously.
"Ok sure, I'll just go talk to Raven for a while." And then she left us.
"OMG, guys! This is really happening! I cannot believe it, first Vans then a label, our dreams are finally coming true!" I said.
"Sh**, someone pinch me. I think I'm dreaming, wake me up!" Pearl exclaimed.
"Ouch! That hurt." She added then Garder said jokingly,
"Well you asked for somebody to pinch you, so I pinched you. Happy?"
"This is really the real deal. Reality people!" added Elle.
"YES! We are signing a label. This is awesome!" said Darci.
"We are taking the offer right guys?" I asked (stupid question) cause the next thing I know they were all saying this at the same time,
"Of course we are taking this! Wake up Aria Lowsley! Stop spacing out!"
"Ok, I was just checking if we were all in this together you know." I added.
"Ok guys, since we are taking this I have to talk to Ms. Scott for the terms and conditions, the legality of it all, rights and stuff, if you must say." Said Andre.
Then all of us chimed in "Ok great Andre! We trust that you make the best deal she has ever going to get! We are counting on you!"
"No sweat guys, you know Andre." He slyly added.
When Ms. Scott went back in the bus after about ten minutes she asked if we needed two or more days to figure things out but we kindly stopped her and said we would definitely be happy signing with her label, right here right now. And she smiled at us and started talking about legal stuff, the ones Andre said earlier, and we were all there as everything went down.
After the whole legal debacle Ms. Scott made a call and after two minutes a fax was retrieved and it was.....yes....it was the contract, our contract. It was like the holy grail for us, as soon as she laid it out in front of us we immediately signed it. Each one of us embedding our signature in the most important piece of paper in our lives yet and after that, Houston, WE HAVE A LABEL!
We could tell Ms. Scott was very nice, that she understands what we are going through, she was a struggling musician at one point in her life too. How'd we know, well after the signing we got to know each other, she told us her life story about being a struggling musician, struggling which one to prioritize family or music, how she made things work. She even went on a tour with Chris Keller (Hot musician by the way).
Then we shared our story to her as well. At the end of it all we were kind of relieved because we knew that we made the right choice. We knew that we were in good hands. We knew that things were finally falling into place.
Do you know the saying "When a door closes a window opens" in my interpretation this means that when something bad happens and you think that there is no more hope, a light will show you that there still is, that there is always good in the world. And if you just try to find that window you'll understand why that door needed to close. That everything happens for a reason.
Today we have proved that everything has to take its own course in life. We say goodbye but we also get to say hello and that's the beauty in life, if there's a bad experience there are more good and better ones that make up for it.
All in all we just have to appreciate, never take anything for granted and hope for the best. Tomorrow is another day and we should always greet it with open arms. Because tomorrow also brings with it possibilities and blessings, new learning's and of course personal as well as social growth.
We always have to be genuine, pretending just complicates things, we have to share with one another to see life and its beauty in a better way. Like what they say, sharing is caring! :)
