Chapter 19: Wanting You

* Ebony's POV *

J had actually started paying more attention to me & I loved it! He was actually coming into town tonight & he was coming over my place. I had freshened up, made my good chocolate chip cookies, & put on my new dress. I just wanted everything perfect! My cell did it's ring for a message. It was from J & read:
Ebony, I've just landed. I'll be over in a hour. Got to do a little unpacking & I've gotta tell you something important! ;)
My mouth dropped & a smile came across my face. Maybe he was gonna confess his true feelings for me tonight! I just knew tonight really had to be perfect. After all, we had been hanging out for a couple weeks now. I'm sure he felt the same way about me, since he always took me out.

1 Hour Later...

J came in & sat down on the couch.
Ebony: Cookie?
J Cole: Yeah. Thanks.
I stood there watching him crunch down on the cookie. Wishing he'd crunch on MY cookie. I wanted him to feel comfortable, so I fluffed up the couch pillows.
Ebony: How are they?
J Cole: Delicious.
Ebony: Thank you.
J Cole: You like to bake?
Ebony: Yeah, I do what I can.
J Cole: I love a woman who bakes. My mom bakes all the time.
Ebony: Well, hell... Scratch that. I LOVE to bake! I do it all the time when I'm free.
J Cole: That's good. How was you're week?
Ebony: Alright. Yours?
J Cole: Good. Went to the safari. Seen the cutest little thing & it reminded me of you.
Ebony: Really? What?
J Cole: A monkey....
I looked at him laughing, but he had the straightest face. He wasn't even joking. Damn, was he saying I looked like a monkey to him?
J Cole: Nothing negative. Their just creatures misunderstood. You said you're always misunderstood by others, so it was a reminder.
Ebony: Oh okay.
That seemed a little better I thought in my head.
J Cole: You got my text?
Ebony: Yeah.
J Cole: I missed ya Ebony.
Ebony: Aw, I missed you too.
I could feel myself blushing. I pretended as if he hadn't told me anything exciting. I really wanted to jump up & shout!
J Cole: I'm going to New York next week.
Ebony: Really?
J Cole: & I was wondering...
Ebony: Mhm...
He was going to invite out to New York with him. I just knew it!
Ebony: YES! YES! YES!
J Cole: So, you'll watch Taco?
Ebony: Taco?
J Cole: Yeah, my dog.
Ebony: Oh.
J Cole: Just for 3 days. Thanks Ebony. You're great. I knew you'd understand.
Ebony: Yup.
J gave me a kiss on the cheek & walked out the door. Maybe I was the only one with feelings. Wish he felt the same.
