Chapter 2

Staring at the daunting building in front of me, my nerves have skyrocketed. Cam called her dad for me to see if I could get a job interview with his company. Working for a high top agency, David McIntyre is an intimidating man to say the least. He is currently looking for an assistant, so after my whole Monday senario, Cam worked her magic. I loved Cam's family like my own, but myself and David have never been the closest. He's never been rude or unwilling to have me, just closed off. So the aspect of working beside him and being near him for a minimum of 40 hours a week is a little nerve wracking.

It's now Friday and as I walk into the building I am mentally calculating my finances. Having only worked for 3 hours on Monday before being fired, this will be 4 days without an income, where I cannot afford to even take a day off. Between rent, food, utilities, a hefty emergency fund in case I need to leave, the list goes on, its safe to say I need this job. So I put on my happy smile and step inside.

The inside of the building is beautiful, you can immediately tell there are high profile cases coming through for them to put this amount of effort into showing off. The ceiling is all glass and there is a fountain in the middle of the room in front of the reception desk. The woods are all dark colored with gold accents, and the marble floor almost sparkles in the sunlight. Walking to the reception desk, a perky blonde greets me. Her blue eyes scan my length and you can tell she's giving me the once over. "Hello, welcome to Eclipse Enterprises, how may I help you," she says energetically.

"Hi there, I'm here for an interview with Mr. McIntyre?" I say nervously drumming my fingers on the desk. Reading the name card of Emily on her desk, I have to wonder about her sunny personality. I have personally never been one to be referred to as sunny. I've always had the disposition of a dark thundercloud. Life's lessons have generally taught me that life sucks. I get by, but life sucks.

"Ah yes he mentioned he had an interview. Alright well the elevators are on the left. Head up to the 10th floor. There will be another receptionist up there who can direct you further. I will tell her your coming!" she said with a beaming smile. I can't help but to stare at her. I've never heard someone who talked to fast in their life. It's a good thing I can keep up.

"Alright thank you," I say walking away. Walking up to the elevator, I'm trying not to let my nerves get the best of me. My anxiety has always been a problem in my life, ever since my unfortunate childhood has gotten the best of me. My stomach is literally curling at the thought of this interview. It's actually a miracle that I passed my last one, although that was for a multi corporation where I was swallowed into the system. This job is so much more personal, and the thought of that makes me nauseous. The elevator pings for the 10th floor, and I walk to this receptionist. She looks much less happy, which makes my anxiety worse.

"Hi there, I'm here for an interview with Mr. McIntyre?" I repeat to her. "Yes, Emily called saying you are coming up. He is currently finishing up a meeting so have a seat over in the chairs. I'll call you up when he is ready," she brushes me off, eyes never leaving the computer screen. I sit in the plush chairs, smoothing down my black dress with anxiety. Looking around, I spot multiple records and pictures on the walls. There are gold and platinum records and pictures of Mr. McIntyre with groups of people underneath. Obviously he has an important job which makes me even more nervous about being his helping hand. Cam never told me why he is looking for a new assistant, and I can only hope they left for a good reason.

"Ms. Bramer, he is ready for you now," the receptionist calls out to me. "Head down the hall and it's the 3rd door on the left."

"Alright thank you," I say walking off. Noticing that all the walls on this floor are glass, they give off a very opening feeling to the hallway. There are even more pictures and achievements on these walls. I reach the door and give a hesitant knock. "Come in," a voice sounds from the other side.
