Kaitlyn's POV
Shawn had been a bit reserved and quieter since when he went off for the wolf business. He wouldn't tell me what went on. He said I wasn't ready to hear. I didn't understand what he meant by that. It made me question everything that went on while he was gone. A small part of me even thought he was lying to me and he went off to do something else. I got sick and tired of the secrets.
"You know what? When we got married I didn't sign up to have secrets kept from me. You need to tell me what is going on." Shawn looked at me with a face that looked slightly angry. He looked away.
"It was Adrian." My mind had to process who Adrian was. I couldn't put a face to a name at first, but when I could, I gasped.
"What about him?" Shawn was quiet for a bit. "Shawn, I need to know this. Tell me what happened." He turned to me. I reached out and took his hand, letting him know I wasn't mad and that I would be okay, whatever came out of his mouth next.
Shawn explained the whole time he was gone. He told me how the palace smelt like dirt until you got into the throne room, then it smelled like my mother. He told me that he had put the people that took part in harming my family in the dungeons and promised them no serious harm. I sat and listened.
By the time he was done talking, my mouth was hanging open. I closed it and opened it again, but no words came out of my mouth. When I finally regained my voice, I said, "Thank you for telling me, Shawn."
"Thank you for making me." Shawn gave a sad, tired smile. I squeezed his hand and lifted his arm up so that I could cuddle up to his side. He kissed my temple. I put my hand on his chest and buried half of my face in this shirt. His hand rested right on the bottom of my shirt. "I'm sorry that you have to stay inside."
"It's fine as long as I've got you right by my side."
"Don't you think that's a little cheesy?"
"Not one bit." I touched the tip of his nose. He started to tickle me. I screamed and got up, running away from him.
I ran into a room in the back of the house that I hadn't been into in a while. I ran to the back of the room and pressed myself against the wall. He ran up and started tickling me again. I squirmed underneath him and was laying on the floor laughing. He got down with his knees on either side of me and continued tickling me. "StOP," I managed out. I turned and it made Shawn fly towards a piano I didn't see until just now. His back hit the leg of it and it snapped. Shawn moved out of the way before it collapsed. The piano fell forward and the other leg broke. I covered my mouth. Shawn was groaning in pain. I got up as quickly as I could and bent down to help Shawn up. He accepted my help, but pulled his hands away half way through getting up.
"It hurts," he said quietly.
"Hold on, Shawn. You'll be okay. Just trust me." I grabbed his hands and closed my eyes, reciting a spell in my head. When I looked at him again, his eyes had shut and I could hear his heartbeat slow down. I lifted him up, (which is especially hard to do with a baby bump) and carried him up the stairs. I laid him onto the bed and looked at him. My eyebrows furrowed. I whispered a little spell and he relaxed a little more. He turned his body. I tried to walk away, but my energy had been drained. I mustered up all of the energy I had left and made it half way to the other side of the bed before almost collapsing. I started taking bigger steps. I used the bed as support. When I finally made it I fell onto the bed. I closed my eyes and sleep overcame me.
