"Elena, let's go. Places to go, people to see. We have to go to our hotel before tomorrow."

"I know, I know. Give me a minute. I just have to grab my bag and say goodbye to my parents."

Elena Roberts was rushing to get out of the house. Her best friend Jordan was waiting to take her on their road tip of a lifetime. Her ticket away to freedom

It had taken her forever to convince her parents to let her go on this road trip. She was "still a baby and wasn't ready for the outside world". Why wouldn't her parents see that she was right ready to go out and see the world?

She wasn't a little kid. Her parents still wanted her to have a babysitter for goodness sakes!

She didn't want their support or their money, she wanted to be independent. To take care of herself. To be responsible. Which she was.

Elena ran back into her house, which was basically a mansion. Her parents insisted on having a large house to entertain, even though it was only them and her younger brother. She dashed up to her room and grabbed her bag and pillow. That was it. Only a few seconds away from getting out of here.

"MOM, DAD, I'M LEAVING!" She yelled aimlessly into the house. Right before she ran out the door her mothers appeared. She stops short.

"Elena, what have I told you about yelling. It's not lady like."

"Mom. I have to go. Jordan's waiting for me."

"You know our deal. When you come back you will go to Gaenteed School for success. I don't want to hear any complaining. It's not ladylike."

"I know." Elena sighed. She's heard this speech a million times.

Garenteed was one of the most Prestigious schools, and Elena was going to have to There. Only the best we're accepted. Although Elena had the idea that she got accepted because of her parents.

What her parents didn't know was that Elena was going to a college meeting at Juilliard.

She had a secret dream of being a musician but her parents had other plans. You had to be really smart to even get into Garenteed so Elena was lucky. She knew how to fix cars, fix toilts, build sheds, she even fixed her little cousins play set last summer. She had acceelled at math and science, in all AP classes.

But in the end, her best class was music. She'd always had a passion for the arts, and that's what she wanted to do.

"I have to go. Bye." she quickly kissed her mom on the cheek and ran out.

"Took you long enough," Jordan laughed, already knowing what happened.

Elena tossed her bag in the backseat and rolled her eyes, "My mom had to remind us of our deal along with a little mini speech."

"You still haven't told them?"

"How could I when all they ever talk about is me going to Gaenstink."

Jordan laughed, "This is why we're going far away from them. I can't believe they actually let you out of the house."

"Right! Last week she wouldn't even let me go get my nails done by myself."

"And she thinks you'll be ok with me?"

"Apparently. I don't know how."

"Wow, she has low standards."

"Ha, maybe in my dream. Actually, not really, in every dream I've had anoutbher she's been the devil."

"You know you're always welcome at my house right."

"You know mom doesn't let me ever go to your house."

"Right. It's "not ladylike to barge into someone's house" right?"

"Exactly." Elena signed and leaned back in her seat as Jordan went on the freeway.

Shewas ready no matter what her parents thought. She wanted this more than anything. They were always telling her to pursue my dream, so that's what she doing. Just in a different matter.

Freedom, ready or not, here we come.
