There was never a more hopeless moment in the vampire queens life. Simon, who they thought was cured from the misery of the ice crown, was dangling in the air with an expression of pure terror. As if he was struggling with the corrupt thoughts that ran through his mind. He could feel the evil presence coursing through his body. Somehow it was felt desperate as if trying to escape the prison known as Simon.

"Why is this happening? What do you want from me?!" He screamed.

"It has just begun Ice king...Our prophecy will unfold...Right...NOW!"

Suddenly he lost all control of his thoughts and actions. Once again he could feel insanities grip on him, something he never thought he'd have to worry about again. Simons features began to change into the distorted form of the Ice King. Shaking out of her shock, Marceline determined what to do.

"Simon, snap out of it!" She yelled. "I can't lose him again, not after I just got him back!"

She frantically looked around, trying to find something to do, just something to help bring him back. Her eyes fell on the human boy standing in the corner. The look on Finn's face was inscrutable to the vampire. He stared blankly at the man flying in the air laughing hysterically. Marceline thought she could see a hint of confusion on the boys face. As if he didn't believe what he was seeing. The vampire darted through the castle room toward Finn, hoping they could think of some way to save the iceman. She landed right next to the human stirring the icy air around him, making his clothes and strands of messy hair that peeked out of disheveled hat shift. However, she got no response from him. Finn just continued to look at the old man.

"But...I thought..."Marceline heard him mumble quietly.

Suddenly Marceline could see his true feature, his confusion and hurt. All he wanted was the fighting Bonnie had started to stop. He wanted the Ice King's life to be restored to him. He wanted Simon to be happy, then Marceline could finally be happy. He just wanted it all to end...

Marceline moved in front of Finn's view to place a wall between him and what he believed was his mistake. The vampire placed her hands on his shoulders, forcing him to make eye contact.

"Hey, Finn...listen to me! We need to get Bonnie. She may be able to help...okay?" He stared at Marceline, trying to comprehend what was just said.

"But, it was supposed to work..."

"I know that, Finn! But it obviously didn't, so now we need to get PB to help us!"

Finn's face fell, what one would take as a vacant expression was in reality to those who knew him the face of defeat and self-loathing.

"Okay..."

Marceline gave a reassuring shake, then began to contemplate on a plan to get Finn out of the room without disturbing the Ice King. She glanced at the floating man, noticing that he probably wasn't gonna be a threat when it came to leaving the room.

"Alright Finn, I'm gonna stay here and make sure Si-...Ice King doesn't leave the room or explode, or something. While you go yank PB from whatever the glump she's..."

Marceline was then interrupted by a more menacing laugh than usual coming from Ice King.

"Hmm...I'm afraid the human boy won't be going anywhere, at the moment. We have some...things to discuss." Ice King spoke, but the voice that had came out was not his own. The disturbing sound brought unwanted nostalgia and terrible memories to the young boy.

"It's...th-the Lich!" Finn spoke with terror edging his voice.

"Yes, child. The time had now come for my sacred power to leave this old body, as it had done to the crown. Now I will develop myself into a...much more juvenile vessel."

In response, Finn turned to the vampire queen who had begun to glare daggers at Simons possessed body and huffing in pure rage, and asked:

"What the fart does Groovy-Nile mean?" Marceline did not reply. Instead shoved Finn behind herself, transforming into a giant bat-monster, becoming angrier every moment that drew.

"You better not be donking meaning what I think you're meaning, you monster!"

Marceline's wings covered over Finn completely. Making it hard for him to no for sure what was going on. Plus, the vampire had a death grip on one of his shoulders.

"Oh come now, did you really think I was talking about him? Let's not forget about the lovely maiden in our presence...the one that can live...forever."

"Like heck I'm gonna go ahead with your plans, Lich! NOT AFTER WHAT YOU DID TO SIMON!" Marceline yelled at the hovering form of her best friend.

"But listen, child. I may be able to save your companion...that's is...if you're willing to pay the price?"

The vampires glare intensified. "What sort of price?"

Ice King's green, possessed eyes held a smile, seeing his prey go for the bait.

"It's quite simple, really...his life for your life. Simon will be returned to his body and his former glory as he saves Ooo from this...depressing war of nonsense. While you...will be given the power of the crown! It sounds like a good deal to be sure!"

At this notion, Finn squirmed in Marceline grasp.

"Don't listen to him, Marcy! You know this can only end ba.."

"Shut up!" Marceline yelled, as angry as ever.

"Glob Finn, what other lumping choice do I have!? I promised Simon I would get him back to normal, no matter the cost!.. and right now, I couldn't care less what happened to me!"

Finn's gave the vampire an annoyed look. "But..."

"There is nothing left to "But" about..." Marceline transformed back to her original self and loosened her grip on the boy's shoulder. "It's the only way."

Marceline walked away from Finn and toward the Lich. "I have lived hundreds of lives, now I accept your demands and my fate" she closed her eyes, preparing herself for whatever happened next.

For a moment, Finn's stared in shock. "Why would Marceline give up so easily?" His face immediately changed to anger.

"WHY ARE ALL ADULTS SO STUBBORN!?" Finn screamed at the submitting Vampire.

Suddenly an eerie laugh came from the Lich.

"...and so ignorant too"

Before Marceline could question what he meant, a spear made of ice formed around the Ice King's arm. It's color red like burning metal, but just the mere appearance of it caused the room to freeze over. The Lich then gave a glance to Marceline, pointing the spear right at her heart. Marceline closed her eyes again, ready for her ado. However, the Lich hesitated and a few agonizing moments lagged on. But faster then a blink of an eye, the Lich swung his icy arm to the corner of the room and blasted it like a harpoon.

Straight at...

It was as if the world was in slow motion. Before Marceline had even begun to open her eyes, the spear was flying through the air. Her vision followed it as it approached the destination. She wanted with all her heart to shut her eyes and ears, as the sound of a sharp object ripping quickly through flesh and crushing bones and the sight of a pain and bewildered expression met with so much blood. She wanted to shut off her nose as her keen sense of smell drew in the sent of something metallic, making her somewhat hungry, but at the same time disgusted and sick. She wanted to shut off everything...but she forced herself to watch. Marceline took in a quick gasp of air before screaming out her lungs...

"FINN!"
