A week passed. I had to figure out how to send Zaikon back to Limbo. All I knew was that I needed a Golden Ankh, but I didn’t know where to find it or how to use it. I was wearing my uniform for the first time in what felt like forever, my silver hair down in its natural waves.

I entered the main room and went to the table. I waved my hand over it and it came to life, showing a 3D map of the kingdom. I zoomed in on every possible place I could find it, with no luck.

I spent a little over two hours looking at places on the map, even looking outside the kingdom. I was pulled from my concentration when I heard faint voice calling my name from outside . I looked at the door, confusion written on my face. The map turned off as I walked to the door. I exit the clubhouse into the cool night air and looked around.

No one.

I must be going crazy.

I shook my head and turned around.

    “Nyrah!”

Or maybe not.

I whipped back around and saw Kianna, Aryah, and Leona talking. It looked like Kianna and Leona were fighting. I sighed and walked over to them.

“Well maybe if you didn’t call her a MONSTER, we wouldn’t be out here looking for her!” Kianna yelled.

“Will you two stop fighting!” Aryah shouted, pushing the two away from each other. “Fighting isn’t going to help us find her!”

“It may not help you find me, but it sure helped me find you.” Their heads turned in my direction.

“Nyrah!” They shouted. Kianna engulfed me in a hug.

“What are you guys doing out here?” I asked, gently pushing Kianna off of me, “monster hunting?”

“Listen,” Leona stepped forward, “I’m sorry about calling you a monster. I was just scared, I didn’t mean it.”

I smiled and pulled her into a hug, “I forgive you.” I pulled away, “the forest is dangerous at night. Come on, I’ll show you where I live.”

Aryah’s face lit up, “really?”

“Mmhm. Let’s go.”

We stood in front of the rundown shed. Their reactions amused me. I couldn’t wait to see their faces when I showed them what it really looked like.

“Is something wrong guys?” I mocked confusion.

“Ah, no, not at all.” Aryah said quickly.

“Yeah, it’s a… nice place,” Leona added nervously. I had to hold back a smile.

“It’s a dump.” Kianna deadpanned. Leona whacked her arm, “ow!”

“Well, it looks better on the inside. Take a look,”  I gestured to the door. They all glanced at each other. Kianna stepped forward and opened the door, revealing: a worn blanket, a dirty pillow, and some old childrens’ drawings.

“Uh..-”

“Oops, I almost forgot.” I closed the door and knocked three times, “now open it.” Kianna looked at me like I was crazy, but opened the door again.

They all gasped audibly. The sight of the real clubhouse left them speechless. I laughed and led them inside.

“This is where I live.”

“Oh wow, Nyrah, it’s beautiful!” Aryah exclaims.

“Why don’t you guys have a seat, I believe I have some explaining to do.”

I told them about me being a Celestial Guard, my mission, my old team, the Shadow Knights, and shifters. They all listened intently, and looked as if they almost didn’t believe me.

“You know, if you didn’t already prove you had some sort of magic power, I would think you were crazy.” Kianna finally said.

Then, there was a big crash outside, “you guys stay here, I’m gonna go check that out.” I stood up and headed to the door.

“Wait!” Kianna grabed my hand, “you can’t go out there alone!”

“Yeah, have you never watched a horror movie?” Aryah added.

“I don’t own a T.V.” I deadpanned. “Plus, I can protect myself. I’ll be fine.”

“Yeah, until you’re kidnapped and we have to go save you.” Leona said.

“Guys, this isn’t a book. Things like that don’t just happen.” I rolled my eyes.

I left them inside and went to investigate the the noise. When I got outside, I’m greeted by a fallen tree.

Who would knock down a perfectly happy tree?

Then Cayla appeared, with a whole shifter army behind her.

They would, because they are awful people.

“Your time is up Nyrimah! It’s time for you to die!” Cayla said, “but unfortunately, I won’t be the one to kill you.

“That is the most cliche thing I’ve ever heard.” I sighed, “listen Clowny, I don’t have time for this, so how about you take your friends and come back another day.”

“Oh, yeah we can do that.” She stood there for a second while I was trying not to die from laughter. “Wait! No! Just grab her and her friends so we can take them to Zaikon!” The shifters swarmed me.

Don’t waste your time on them. Go for the leader.

Just like last time, my aura swirled around me, shining bright against the dark forest. I planted my feet in the ground, then pushed off towards Cayla, dodging shifters left and right.

There’s too many of them!

I tried to fight them off, but they overpowered me. Soon I couldn’t move at all. Lying helpless on the ground, I watched as they carried my unconscious friends out of the clubhouse.

I failed them. I told them I’d take care of it, now we’re all in trouble. I knew I shouldn’t of become their friend.

I’m sorry.
