The wolf made no attempts to attack, the pain took a toll on the poor animal. Calling his brother let along anyone is useless, there wasn't even any service where he is. Leaving the wolf alone wasn't an option, he couldn't do that to the beautiful creature.
"I am going to help but you need to walk with me. You are too heavy and big to carry." He said. The wolf wobbled to its feet, standing on three legs the wolf awkwardly walk toward him. Its large body touch his shoulder, Adam had to move away to look at the wolf. How can any wolf be this big unless there's a species of wolves he's unaware of.
His hand brush through its thick fur, its body trembling from the pain and cold. Step by step Adam assists the wolf walking to his truck. Adam doesn't have any experience how to properly treat its injuries so he'll need to take him to a vet and hopefully get in contact with a sanctuary who'll help the wolf to recuperate.
As they reach the end of the trail, Adam quickly glances around hoping none of his neighbours is outside. It is not hard to miss a large grey wolf beside him. The wolf lay on the floor behind a wooden fence, Adam glance one last time at the wolf and dash into side his home to fetch his keys and wallet. He drove his car out back parking it next to the wolf. He threw an old blanket behind his truck and a pillow for the wolf's head. Its the best he could do till he arrives at the nearest vet clinic.
"This is going to hurt but you need to jump on my truck. There's enough room for you to lay down" I explain. Talking to the wolf is crazy enough but I need to keep myself sane for not going into a panic attack because of the situation. The wolf seems to understand my words and immediately jumped plomping to its side. He let out a loud whimper and instantly licking his paw.
Adam wasn't sure if the hunters saw them or not but he hopes they're long gone after setting that trap. He also made sure its set away for him to pick up later. Adam drove over the speed limit, constantly glancing at his mirror he feared the worse. Curious onlookers weren't easing his nerves.
"Nice dog you got their kid," someone said. Adam closed his car door and faced the person who spoke to him. His eyes widened seeing the man wear gear he familiar with.
"Th-thanks, he's a husky" Adam replied. The man smiled looking at the wolf and back at him.
"You sure? Never seen a husky that big" he replied. Adam froze, he didn't know how to respond. More trucks pulled up beside him, hunters filling the parking lot left and right.
"He's a mix breed, I-I have to go and it's nice talking to you," Adam responded. He didn't wait for the nurses to come out, Adam quickly pulls out his keys until one of his friends stopped him.
"Hey, kid! You have seen a red truck with a wolf?" He asked. Adam is trembling with fear and try his best not to show it. He knew they're messing with him but couldn't do anything because they're in public.
"N-No sir" he replied. Turning on his engine, Adam drove away to only see them smile and wave. Slamming his fist against the steering wheel, Adam cursed loudly feeling his heart beat faster than normal. Those bastards! Killing animals for fun makes him sick.
He needs to drive home and fast, maybe taking the long route home is better. He doesn't want to risk them following him to his house. Parking his car inside the garage Adam hop onto his truck checking the wolf. Its eyes look at his, the wolf let out a soft growl making Adam smile. He's safe with the wolf but now he needs to figure out how to treat its wound.
"Need to get you inside and this time you can relax" Adam explained. The wolf jumps off landing on its injured paw. Letting a loud whimper the wolf quickly stood on three legs. Hearing his whimpers made Adam want to cry, he didn't like seeing him in pain.
"You can lay here, it is not much but I'll find something to make you comfortable," said Adam. The wolf nod dropping to its side. Adam searching through his house looking for a first aid kit with no success.
"Holy sh*t! There's a wolf!" Callum yelled. Adam dashes out of his bedroom, his brother was supposed to come home next week.
"I can explain so calm down," said Adam. Blocking his view to the wolf, Adam attempt to calm his brother.
"How can I calm down when there's a damn monster inside our home" he replied.
"He isn't a monster Callum. He's a wolf and I am helping him" Adam replied.
"He was injured from a hunters trap, all that thrashing worsened his injury. He's gentle and knows I am helping him, it doesn't feel right to leave him there." Adam explained.
"Gentle? You got to be joking. He's a wild animal, wolves are not gentle. Haven't you been watching the news, Adam? These monsters killed three kids two weeks ago and be could be one of them, how are they gentle?" said Callum. Adam couldn't believe what his brother is saying, what happened to those boys was horrible but not all wolves are like that.
"Of course they're wild animals, they're only defending themselves" Adam explained.
"Then that's why its good those hunters are dealing with them because no one will," Callum replied. He glared at the wolf, how could Adam be so foolish to help that monster.
"Get out. Since you hate wolves then you don't need to be here. You suppose to be home in two weeks anyway" Adam said. He looks at the wolf, its like he's trying to tell him something.
"Fine but if anything happens to you I know who's responsible." He replied and with that, his brother drove away.
