I ran, cringing as the cold hit my face. For what? To go check on the person who broke my heart not too long ago. I knew I should be holding a grudge right now, but I couldn't bring myself to. What if that asshat did something to him. He may be a jerk, but he was still someone I couldn't just let die or get hurt.
As these thoughts crossed my mind I ran faster, my legs beginning to hurt. I could hear Christian behind me, taking less but much bigger steps than I was. I appreciated that he never yelled after me but just followed. I was grateful but I didn't exactly want to end up explaining to him everything that happened since he was a stranger to me still.
We finally reached the complex and I used to railing to swing myself around quickly darting up the stairs while Christian tailed me. I almost slammed against the door, but stopped and pounded instead. As I was about to yell for Jace, Ricky opened the door and winked before giving a peace sign as he walked away. I was shocked but didn't hesitate to run to Jace inside.
" We have a lot to talk- why is your face so red?" Jace stopped.
" None o-"
" We ran here from the coffee shop, and it's pretty cold. So I guess she must have been cold. Before you ask, we went to get coffee to escape her mother and trunk full of food." Christian interrupted, speaking in one breath.
Jace looked him up and down before giving a satisfied look and waving bye. Christian left and Jace locked the door. He came from behind me and sat me down, taking the seat across from me.
" I have a lot of things to say. And I would much rather talk about us, but there are some things about Ricky too and I don't think they can wait." He started and I nodded telling him to go on.
" Ricky came back for revenge. He said that he would be giving us all small punishments so we could "learn our lesson" and if we handle them well without alerting police then he will let all of us go. But if we alert police or do anything to stop the punishments...he's gonna kill you." He spoke, choking on tears.
" What the hell? Are we in elementary school, what punishments? He seriously isn't okay." I yelled, standing up.

( JACE'S POV )
" Are you gonna accept the deal? Either leave Lynn for Rachel, or recieve the punishments." Ricky spoke smirking.
Can I do that? It's so selfish, the most selfish thing I can do. But I can't live without Lynn. And I certainly can't live with Rachel. But still, can I put her in danger like that?
" Why are you hesitating? There's no guarantee she'll even take you back but you'll put her in harm's way while Rachel's arms are open? No wonder she left so quickly." Ricky laughed again.
" Be quiet. Give me the punishments. But just me." I argued.
" Well, Jace the point is to harm her not you. But I'll do my best. You chose quickly. Be ready to lose her if she finds out." Ricky continued, standing and scrolling on his phone.
" I never chose, I choose Rachel." I spoke, the words sounding forced.
" I would take what you said as a choice. You can try to go to Rachel now, but the only thing that'll come from it is 1: Christian being there instead of you, or 2: Lynn dying cause nobody was there to share the punishment. Nice choice, my friend."
I scowled trying to think of a way to reverse my choice.
" See you." Ricky smiled one last time before walking towards the sudden pounding on the door.
She was too late.

( LYNNS POV )
" I know Ricky, and while he can torture someone to no end, he will never be able to kill you, and as long as I'm here, I can protect you."
" Protect me? You couldn't even stay loyal to me." I argued, letting my anger out.
" That's not what we are talking about-"
" Then what are we talking about? The fact that you need to stay with me so I can live? Did you ever take into consideration that maybe I never wanna see you again, and would rather die than have to do it every day?!" I shouted
"I'M SORRY! I LOVE YOU AND I NEED YOU... and I miss you, Lynn. This is me telling you the honest truth." he sat up.
" Why did I cheat on you with Rachel? I knew Rachel before you and she was Ricky's ex crush. I saw her crying outside of the restaurant my company was eating at and she confessed to me when I asked her if she wanted a ride home." He gulped, tears forming.
" I was drunk and ended up accepting her and it was too late to shake her the next morning. I hung out with her some days and it became sexual attraction. It was only once though, and I know it doesn't make it any better." He continued. I wanted to know everything, so I asked:
" Oh, so that was the one time your "mom" texted you and you had to leave for work, huh? Then what happened after? Did you confess back?"
" No, I told her I couldn't. I realized after it happened I was imagining it was you. And that I couldn't be with her. The time in the alley was a goodbye." he finished, his head hanging.
Goodbye, my ass.
" So you hug and kiss the girl you're cheating with goodbye? That doesn't seem like a very clean ending. Very, very, unlike you, Jace." I laughed, ready to leave.
" Okay she kissed me, and I pushed her off. You think about everything in such detail. Is it that hard to trust me? Plus, I had to catch her while she ran would you want me to fall over?" he pushed.
" Yes, yes I would."
" Even now, you're so adorably childish. Anyways, I want you to know that I love you and that we have to work together by pretending to be together outside if you don't accept me." He finished, hope hanging off his words.
" I'll think about it, but shouldn't we just stay quiet and accept it? Are we really gonna try and fight back?" I asked, finally calm.
" Of course we are."
