Is it ever as simple as black or white?
If it were, my story would be pretty boring.
My name is Jessica Joann White.
I am a straight A student at Harriot High school. I may not be popular or play any sports, but I love books, old movies, classic rock, and helping people anyway I can. My friends call me Snow White, they think they're pretty clever. I've never had a problem with nicknames until a certain leather jacket wearing, cocky smile flaunting, football slinging quarterback, took a special interest in me.
I still remember the first time I spoke to him. It was a cold, December, Friday night. The music was blaring, lights were low, and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Everyone except for me. I on the other hand was sitting in a corner trying to be invisible. It worked, like always. The only reason I came to this dumb dance was because my best friend basically twisted my arm until I agreed to come. So, as I sit by myself, where is this best friend you might ask. On the dance floor, having a blast, not caring what others thought of her. She was being herself which is all I've ever wanted to have the courage to be able to do.
A slow song started to play which made almost all the people on the dance floor scurry like rats. I raised my plastic cup to find was empty. I decided to get up and go get a refill, so I went to stand up, but I didn't move. I looked around no one noticed, so I tried again, this time with more strength. As I stood up, I heard my 90s style red dress rip. I felt the breeze on my back. I looked around and everyone was looking at me and smiling, laughing, and whispering. I went to run out when Cade Black stepped out into my path, blocking the door. He was laughing while holding a bottle of super glue. "Nice dress White," he said with a wicked grin. Those were the first words Cade Black ever said to me.
