We loved the simple things in life,
We lived for every moment.
We practiced writing our names on a tree behind your grandma's house,
For a moment there, it was a moment we would announce.
We would grow in and out of our clothes,
Throwing ourselves into each other's arms,
Until we would fall apart,
Just like every summer.
We would be back together in the fall.
But this time around, you were gone forever,
With a new girl who was tall.
My happiness began to fade,
Just like my old, worn jeans.
We were just two crazy teens,
Falling for each other in the shade.
