"The trouble is, you think you have time."

-Buddha

Hanna's POV:

As soon as I stopped in front of the house, I knew something was up. There were no people, no sounds, no anything. Just the most haunting feeling in the world - something was wrong.

I immediately got out of the car, not caring any less about my safety in this situation. I would die as long as it meant she was alive.

Getting in the house, I knew I should have waited for the explosion, but I just couldn't, I didn't necessarily care if I was shot to death whilst trying to make sure she was safe. She'd probably been through hell and back during these days.

I walked around, reaching the stairs, the smell of blood hitting my nose rather quickly. At first I took a few steps upstairs, but I realized the smell only got weaker if I went up, so I had to walk down and the haunting feeling grew worse.

As soon as I noticed the mattresses, and the blood covered floor that only led to one room, I knew the feeling wasn't just a feeling. Something was wrong.

I ran to the room, seeing no one else but Andre's back in there, wrapping him trying to wrap sheets around someone. He kept repeating: "no, no, no. Ruby, I'm so sorry. Please, breathe. Stay awake for me. Please!"

The tears quickly appeared in my eyes, but I forced them back, the medic in me telling me to shut it down. My emotions would not help. I walked up to him, placing an arm on his shoulder: "let me take over, Andre."

His blood red, teary eyes shot up to me: "I couldn't stop it. The blood."

I grabbed his bloody hands in my arms, not quite ready to look at the body, trying to make them stop shaking: "here's what we'll do. You need to calm down in order to help me help her. Alright? Pull it together, at least for now otherwise we can't help her. I need you. She needs you."

He looked away, soon enough looking back at me as his hands stopped shaking: "okay. I'm here."

I nodded, sitting down as I looked at the body and swallowed my tears again. She was drenched in blood, the bloody knife on the ground, making it clear that the abdomen wrapped in sheets by Andre had been the place facing the most damage. I looked down at her hands, what had been done to them and averted my gaze soon enough.

I unwrapped the sheets for a second to see the damage, at least exact spot from which the blood was coming and discovered the harsh truth - there were far more than 2 or 3 spots. I checked the wounds, soon covering her up with the sheets again.

"You've done well," I whispered, already knowing there was no point in checking her pulse, "we need to get her out of here now."

"But you haven't even-" Andre said.

"I said we need to get out of here," I said, making it clear, "she deserves more than this."

He shook his head, seemingly starting to lose it again as I grabbed his hand and made him look at me.

"Give me your shirt so we can cover her up," I whispered.

He nodded, taking his shirt off and handing it to me as I saw Luke reach the room. I hadn't even heard the explosion, that's how out of it I was.

He handed me the shirt as I covered her up: "bring her to the car."

Once again, he nodded in silence. There was no one who could make him feel worse than he already made himself feel.
