Chapter One
Jason's POV~
The day had come. The Choosing. A day worth living for, or so they say. This day was full of teenagers becoming adults. Young adults that are. It's almost a week of celebratory vigor. I'd call it the week of the Choosing.
"Yo, Jason!" My friend called out. The familiar voice approached me and it was Ty.
"Hey, Ty. What are you doing here so early?" I asked.
"The Choosing of course!" He clapped. I nodded and gave him a slight eye roll. "My parents say this week is gonna be a bitch." I scrunch my eyebrows.
"Why's that?"
"It's over a million people in this damn country that's gonna be chosen. Over, a million!" I rose my brows.
"Holy shit..." He nodded.
"I know. But at least there are gonna be girls~." He said. He always told me this in hope to cheer me up. It never works. I'm not some kind of bachelor. I've never had someone to "lean on". I shrugged and started walking to school.
"Where's Marie?" I asked looking around for Ty's girlfriend.
"She didn't want me anymore. It was her mistake." I chuckled. Ty's always the one getting dumped. Don't really feel bad for him though. He's always "girl-hopping". "Although, there is this one girl. She's new, but she is qualified for being Chosen." I listened but kept walking showing no interest. "She's really hot. Let me tell you. If I had a saying in it, she's totally your type." I laughed at this.
"No one's my type, Ty. No girl shows interest in me. Never will."
"You think that, but you should hear all the girls when you walk past them." I shook my head. "Dude, I'm serious! They're all falling for you." Again, I shook my head and walked into the entrance of the school. I was greeted by Lila, my friend since birth. Turns out, we were born in the same hospital and our parents met. We're basically related.
"Jason!!" She squeezed me. I struggled to breathe.
"Can't....breath..." She let go and apologized. "It's fine."
"Do you know what class you're gonna be in for today?"
"I'm in..." I check my number. "206."
"Aw! I'm in 201!" She started to whine.
"There's still a way to see each other though. Don't worry." She gulps.
"You're right. I don't need to worry."
"Jason Dellon!" Someone cried out. Suddenly, Lila was all over me.
"Jeez! Lila! I gotta go!" She squeezed my chest.
"Love you, big bro." I smiled.
"I love you, too." I hugged back. I started walking to the teacher who called me. She had long blonde hair, brown eyes, and a skirt that's way too inappropriate for a teacher to wear.
"Hello, Mr. Dellon, I'm Mrs. Adams and I will be teaching you about Choosing. You will not be the only one, but trust me, give me any attitude and you'll be the only one." I nodded and said, "yes, ma'am." As I walked with her, I glanced at a girl who passed me. She seemed like she didn't know where she was going. I stopped.
"Hi, um, do you need help?" She hadn't looked me straight in the eyes yet.
"Um....not really. I'm new here." Her voice was low and calming. A voice most girls wouldn't get, or have.
"What's your name?" I asked. She looked at me and my eyes widened. Her eyes were a teal blue, and it was an amazing sight. They went perfectly with her hair and her complexion.
