Mom made Elena and I pancakes before we walked over to her house for her to get cloths. I made sure to grab Elena's cloths from under my pillow and shoved them into my back pack. We left the house at 7:15 am. We waved goodbye to my parents, grabbed our packs, and headed out. We had almost an hour before we had to be at school. Elena and I walked silently for the first two blocks. "That was close, last night," I broke the silence. "Ha, yah," she agreed, "I only wish that they got so drunk that they passed out at the bar." I looked at her and smiled. I noticed that her wrists where healed completely and that there hadn't been any recent ones. I laughed inside with pleasure. I said nothing, I merely grabbed her hand and kissed it gently. Elena let me kiss her hand until we reached her porch, where she flicked my hand away. She wrapped her arms around my neck and kissed my lips gently. When she let go she searched fer her keys, found them, unlocked the door and walked in. I remembered her cloths in my pack and pulled them out. "I brought these with me since you left them in my room," I said. "Oh," She took them from me, "thanks. Hey, Parker, just a question," "Yah anything baby," I assured her. "I'm not, but theoretically speaking, what would you do if you ended knocking me up?" This startled me even though I had had this conversation in my head before. "Elena, I can honestly tell you that I'd do everything in my power to keep you and our baby safe and happy." She smiled and looked away. It took us about 15 miniutes to get Elena dressed and another 20 for her to shower. We packed a bag for her and grabbed her meds. Elena and I left her packed cloths at her house so that we could grab them after school.
The school day was short. After the last bell rang, Elena and I walked to her house and picked up her bags. "You got everything?" I asked. "Yah, I think so, there's only a couple things that I'm leaving here, and I'll come back later to talk to my mom, and grab them then." I nodded and opened the door for her. We walked back to my house in silence. Mom must've had a coworker over for dinner cuz there was a brand new black Ford Fusion Hybrid in the driveway. I helped Elena with her bag and held the door for her. "Hey Mom?," I asked, "Who's car is that outside?" She looked at me, puzzled. "Well I don't know Parker. It must be one of your father's toys." "Oh, ok," I brought Elena's bag to her room and went to find Dad. I couldn't let this car thing go. I found him upstairs an the computer room. "Hey Dad, who's Fusion is sitting in the drive?" He looked up from his paperwork and smiled. "Ha, well, Parker," He dug something outta his pocket. I couldn't tell what it was. "Happy early birthday!" He threw whatever it was at me. I caught it. Keys. Car keys! "No way!" I shouted, "You got me a car?! A Hybrid even?! Thank you so much!" I ran over and hugged him. I couldn't belive it! This was the best birthday present ever! "Hey, Parker, why don't you go take her for a spin and tell me watcha think?" "Thank you! Hey Dad? Can I take Elena?" "Go ask her!"
"Oh my god, Parker! They got you a car?" Elena asked as we drove outta town. "Yah! Its fuckin awesome isn't it?" She giggled and rolled her window down. I got my driver's licence when I was a freshman. I was 15 and had driven a couple of times since then but for the most part Mom and Dad drove. I took a road that turned up and into some steep hills. I followed the road untill it faded to a hiking trail. I shut off the car and shoved the keys in my pocket. "So why'd we come out here?" Elena broke the silence. "Well," I answered, "I don't know. I just followed the road." I smiled and winked at her. Elena unbuckled, opened the door, stumbeled out and slammed the door all in one motion. "Come and get me, Parker!" She winked and ran. Shit! "Elena!" I sprinted after her. I followed her into the trees until it broke to a clearing where I finally cought her. I wrapped my arms arround her and tumbeled to the ground. "Hey!" she shouted as I tickled her. We giggled and rolled arround on the ground. I laughed and rolled over on my back. I looked up and it was the first time in years that I noticed the stars. I tilted my head to the left where Elena lay with a smile on her face. "I love you Elena," I whispered. She rolled on her side and stared into my eyes. "I..." she paused, "I will always love you more." I smiled and kissed her forhead. "Hey, um, Parker?" Elena's expression changed. "Yes baby?," I replied. "Um... theres something I've been avoiding telling you..." I didn't say anything, I just let her talk. "Parker... I'm pregnant..." I was dumb-founded and speachless. I asked the first question that popped into my head. "How long have you known?" She sat up and put her head in her hands. "Since last night," she whispered. "I was going to tell you then, but..." "Sh," I pulled her close to me and rested my chin on her head, "It'll be ok." I laid down and and cuddled her gentely. "Oh, Parker," Elena gazed at me, "I forgot to tell you," she scooted close and kissed my lips softly. She whispered in my ear "happy birthday, sweetie."
