They'd been fighting for hours, and still the battle showed no sign of stopping. Scott and Lydia could actually defend themselves, but Stiles has nothing. He'd decided to bring a gun, and it would be so useful if he could actually use it.
"Stiles! You've gotta get out of here, it's not safe for you!" Scott yelled at him. He turned around just in time to see one of the bullets heading straight to..

... Lydia

He had no time to warn here as her back was turned as he jumped in from of the incoming bullet. It went straight into the centre of his chest, and he fell down in agony. The bullet would've surely killed Lydia as it was heading straight for the centre of his head, but maybe he could survive this. Everything stopped, even the guns, and it was as if they were in slow motion. As he fell clutching his chest, Lydia screamed as he fell into her.
"Stiles... STILES!
Scott fought the last of them off and went to stand beside him.
"Stiles?" He whispered, unsure of what had happened.

Lydia started silently crying, and started shaking uncontrollably. Scott noticed the bullet wound right in the middle of him.
"We've got to get him to a hospital, come on, get up.." he tried with no success. As he was trying to get him off the ground, Stiles started to speak,

"Stop-p guys I-I'm not going to make it," he said, coughing."I just w-wanted to let you all know that I'm sorry that I-I've caused you all this pain," he looked into their eyes sadly, his breathing getting slower and slower. He continued "I'm s-s-sorry I got us all into this mess and I couldn't even do anything to help. Scott, I'm sorry we even went out looking for that body, everything could've been avoided if I hadn't been so insistent." As he said this, Scott shook his head vigorously, now crying. "You've b-been an amazing friend-d... no not a friend, like a brother to me, and I hope that you can forgive me," Scott shook his head again and again, but couldn't bring himself to say anything he was crying so much.

He turned his head slightly to Lydia, who was rocking on her heels, choking on her tears. He smiled faintly at her.
"L-Lydia you've always been there for me, no matter what it was, you would always know if something was wrong. Hell, no one even noticed I had gone except you! I would've been stuck there forever!" At this he smiled weakly and the corners of her lips raised slightly. "Having a c-crush on you since 3rd grade was hard because I would see you e-everyday and know that I had no chance with you, but I kept t-trying. Look at us now. I'm s-sorry for being the one who kept on bringing pain into your lives."

"I'm sorry Scott, Allison was all my fault. I should've fought it, I should've fought the n-nogitsune. I-I'm so s-s-sorry..." he shuddered, coughing a little blood.
"Stiles, it wasn't your fault, none of this was. It would've happened sooner of later, you just sped things on a little. We don't blame you for any of this and we never will. Allison's death was an unfortunate accident, but it wasn't your fault. The moment I first talked to you at the dance, was the best moment of my life. I've never loved anyone, Stiles, but... I love you"
Stiles smiled faintly and tried to speak, but he couldn't. He felt for Lydia's hand and held as tight as he could. She squeezed back, and Scott held his other hand. It was quiet for a few moments, and Stiles's eyes fluttered open as he breathed his last words.
"R-remember I love y-you."
With that his hand fell to the floor and Lydia burst into uncontrollable fits of tears. She screamed and she shook him.
"STILES! STILES don't leave me!!" She desperately tried to grab at him, and started shaking. Scott pulled her into his arms, and she held on tightly, crying. He had never cried this much before, even for Allison. It was beyond heartbreaking, and as they sat there crying quietly over the loss of their best friend, they both knew they would never be the same.
