"Try this one on, honey" I grabbed the blue sequined dress from my mom, and proceeded to slip into it.

If my calculations added up correct, I believe this was the 108th dress I've tried on today.

I observed myself in the mirror, and almost threw up out of disgust.

Sigh. I hate shopping.

"Come out dear! Let me see what it looks like!" I screech at my moms calling.

"Definitely not the dress, ma" I put on a sickening face, and step out of the dressing room.

"Oh c'mon! You look adorable!"

Adorable? Please.

She pauses and reads my expression, "We're not going to find anything if you continue to act like this, Katrina!"

"Honestly, it's just a graduation party. I don't understand why I need to dress up all adorable! I can just wear my jeans and that new t-shirt Aunt Reba got for me."

She makes a snotty face, and signals for me to change back into my normal clothes.

This year is the year I graduate from high school, and everyone is making a big deal out of it. Like chill, I have to go to college in 4 months.

A few of my friends decided to have a party for making it through the whole 4 years, yet decided to approach my mother about it before me. Why else do you think she's insisting on buying a dress?

"Let's go," she snaps at me as I walk toward her.

I laugh at her remark. She looks so cute when she gets angry.

-

"Good morning sunshine!"

The sunlight peeping through the window, blinding me.

I shift to face the reason i'm awake at 6:30 in the morning, slightly opening my eyes to see my mother opening the blinds, making it worse for me.

"What a-"

"Before you say anything, your father has completely payed for all your fees to attend Richmond University! In London!"

I almost choked on my spit. Oh my god, are you serious? Richmond University? This college is my dream.

My heart is literally pounding out of my chest.

But how did dad do this?! Just a week ago, he told me he was in a financial crisis, and wasn't able to pay the mortgage. Then how am I able to go to Richmond University!

In London!

Screw it, at least I'm going to there.

Katrina! Stop thinking so much. You're going to Richmond University. All you have to do is shut up, and thank him.

"Where is he?! I need to thank him as soon as possible!"

"Dear, he's not home right now,"

I sat up straight, confused. Where would my dad be a 6:30 in the morning? That's odd.

"Where is he?"

My mother looked up at me, looking somewhat offended.

"Oh, so now you're old enough to ask questions?"

I was shocked at her response, "I just asked where he went, mom. It's weird for him to be gone out this early."

"Do you no have any respect for his privacy?"

Says the woman who walked into my room as I was enjoying my beauty sleep.

Just as usual, she made a snotty face at me.

Seriously?

She stormed out the room, and slammed the door shut behind her.

Her reaction made me more curious of where my dad is at the moment. I'll just ask him when he comes back. I mean, he won't be gone for too long.

I brush the topic off for the moment, and plan on what I should make myself for breakfast.

Eggs? Pancakes? Waffles?

Aren't pancakes and waffles the same.

You know what? Nevermind, it's too early for this. I'm going back to sleep.
