In the darkness.... Falling... falling... but where from?, where to?
Lily opened her eyes. She was in a white room, a bed in front her, bedsheets looking as though they had not been disturbed. Above the bed was a small black clock. The time was 6:35 (is it morning or evening, I wonder. It was dark outside, it was always dark here.... here in my mind?).
She felt a cold drop of water on her cheek (is it raining?). She looked around her, she was no longer in the white room, she was outside (again, the same place, the same narrow alley, the same hard floor). It was white out here (not bright white but foggy white. White signifying nothing). As she stood up she rubbed her bottom which felt sore from sitting in the same position for so long.
The rain quickened and was beating down on her now. She ran to a black door which stood in the middle of the alley, attached to nothing. Just standing on the ground supported by nothing on either side except the floor. As she approached the door the black faded from it revealing a reflective material, like the drops of water that had drenched it. She looked at the reflection ( ive forgotten what I look like. Never did see myself after I got rid of the mirrors from my home. No, not my home. The home. Whose home?. No it was just a house. A house)
The person that stared back at her was not the 27 year old, black haired and brown eyed Lily that was looking in the mirror. Instead she saw a young girl in her teens. Her straight silver hair reached her waist. Her pupils matched her silver hair colour, giving her a blank expression. (Is that me?) Lily waved her arm slowly in front of her, the reflection responded. (Thats me. Am I dead? Those eyes, they... they cant be alive.). Lily extended her hand to touch the mirror like object in front of her but this time the reflection did not do as she did. This time the girl did not move her arm, she just stood and smiled. Lily was not scared though, she carried on moving her arm until it had touched the surface of the object. (What the hell. its wet, wait... this.. is water). As she put her hand through the water, the girl disappeared as the ripples broke the still surface.
( My hand, its gone through. Theres something else there. It feels warm). Lily walked through to the other side. She was in a small room with a single bed. The walls were decaying, the bed covered in ashes. The building had been burnt, leaving holes in the ground in places. She looked up above the bed. There was a small clock. It was 6:35. (this room, what happened to it... and why had the time not changed... oh wait I know why, I hadn’t changed the battery since it stopped working).
As Lily stood there wondering what had caused the fire, she heared a baby crying in the distance (The neighbours, their baby always cried. Its been crying for a few years now). Lily felt a cold chill behind her but ignored it. The crying got louder and louder still, until the noise pierced through her ears. She tried to block the noise by covering her ears with her hands. (stop it. Stop it. JUST SHUT UP). The noise caused a tear to come running down her face. She turned around as she noticed that the noise was coming from behind her.
A figure dressed all in white came towards her. He had no facial features (what the hell, where is he making that noise from if he had no mouth). The crying noise slowly changed into a menacing laugh. (I have to get out of here... but where shall I go... how do you escape your mind?). She got up and ran as fast as she could. the figure was starting to gain speed behind her. Lily carried on running, the house just seemed to stretch on and on, the shadows growing larger until she was running blindly in complete darkness. The floor suddenly gave way beneath her feet. She tried to scream but no sound came from her mouth.
She was in the darkness.... Falling... falling. Again.
