"Carla, have you gotten your dress yet?" I said, a day before the 8th grade prom.

"For what...?" Carla said, clearly clueless, which was weird.

"The 8th grade prom, silly!! Aren't you going?" I said, giving a playful shove.

"Ouch, Kate. Yes, I'm going. I totally forgot!!!" I laughed at her after that comment.

"Let's go shopping now! I forgot my dress, and shoes, and..." I was freaking out. It was 8th grade prom. Next year, it was bye to middle school, and hello to high school. Yikes!!

"Katelynn, chill!!!" At least she knew how to calm me down.

"Okay I'm calm. Now let's go!!" As we ran out of my room, we ran to my mom.

"Whoa whoa, you need to calm down. How much sugar did you have?" My mom said as we nearly ran into her on the couch.

"Sorry, mom. No sugar at all. We just need some money."

"How much money do you need and where are you going?"

"Maybe about $50 and we are going to the store to get dresses for 8th grade prom."

"Oh, exciting!! Can I come?" I didn't want my mom coming. She would embarrass me.

"Mom!!!!" I screamed at her, making her jump.

"What??? It's such an exciting moment for my baby girl. Shopping for 8th grade prom. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity!!!"

"Please..."

"How are you getting there?" I didn't think of that.

"On second thought..." My mom then squealed.

"Mom!! Don't embarrass us before we even get there."

"Okay, okay. Get in the car." Carla and I raced to the car. Then we opened the door and jumped in. Literally.

It was a silent ride other then my mom listening to her old people music and singing along, while Carla and I were in the back laughing at her.

Ten minutes later, we got there. We ran to the sidewalk, leaving my mom behind. We ran in, and found the nearest clothes store that had what we wanted.

"Honey, wait! I can't move as fast as I used to." I hear my mom screaming for us. But we just looked at the dresses, not going back. I would for sure get yelled at later. "Katelynn, if you don't get out here, your grounded from your phone for a month, I'm not buying you a dress, and your not going to prom, no matter what you do or say. So get over here!" That was a threat so I just ran out, Carla following close behind. "You made the right decision."

"Whatever mom. Carla AND mother, let's go!!!!"

We walked over to the dresses and I walked around until my eye caught this one dress, it was fantabulous!!! I ran to it. I yanked it off the hanger and ran to the dressing room. I tried it on.

Afterwards, I looked it over. It was...

BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!

So I took out my phone, snapped a mirror selfie, took the dress off,  and ran out with it. "Mother, I want this one!!!"

"Okay, how much is it?" "$13.99 and no tax at this store." She then handed me 3 $5 bills. "Thanks, mom!" Carla also found a dress that she paid for herself.

An hour later, we were back home, and Carla went home. It was pretty late and so I went to sleep without dinner.

As soon as I went to sleep, I was already in a deep slumber.

As soon as I was in a deep slumber, I had a weird dream..
