The year of animals

Chapter 1

It is the year 2030. The animals have taken over. There was some dangerous experiments going on in 2018. The scientist in Oregon where trying to change the animals genetics and make them smarter. The experiment was a success. However, they escaped. Classic move.
Also the chemical they used, kept evolving. Over the years they just got smarter and smarter. Figured out how to pick locks and work together. The chemical made us sick. They eventually killed us. This was the downfall of the human population.

My name is Joel, I'm a survivor of the kehlan virus and the j73 chemical. The j73 chemical affected the animals, it made them intelligent. J73 is the chemical that started all of this. Kehlan virus is what the animals gave us. My goal is to reverse all of this. I plan to go to Oregon lab. Also maybe pick up people on the way.

March 27 , 2030
Today's goal was to find a new shelter place. The monkeys and birds have started stalking my place. I know they'll follow me either way but I was gonna take the sewer to lose them. There is some places they can't go without hurting themselves. They have a sensitive sense for scent. I'm not sure why.
I've already packed my backpack full of supplies. I would need to make another trip for my other stuff, for now I've just packed the essentials. 
Starting my mission to find a new place was harder then I thought. Everything has been trashed and destroyed. The trees were snapped in half. The houses looked like a hurricane had just came by and demolished them.. they were almost unrecognizable. Whatever was left had blood and feces on it.
It was after 7pm when I found a place that looked okay. It needed work but I think it could work. It was small and compact. It was by the old library that is now filled of birds. Luckily the way there was coming from the back. The birds would peck me to death until I died or give me the diseases they carry.
My new place was small. It was gray and white walls. I was setting everything up. It started to feel like home.
*Bam. Bam. Pow* *CRASH*
"What the hell was that!?"
