{ R A V E N }

I saw morning dew on the grass. The dew was sparkling white sparkles on the water. The sun was shining on the morning dew. All the grass had morning dew. Just then my sister started crying. I don't know why she started crying and what happened. "What happened," I said to her. "A birdie ate a worm. He pulled it out of the ground and took off with it," she said looking up to me. "Well....." I said looking down to her. "Well what," she said. "Well that's how life works." I said. "Really?" She said wiping tears off her face. "Yea basically, a worm comes up above the ground and then a bird comes and takes the worm to its nest and her baby birds eat the worm." I said. "Okay." She said seeming a little bit happy. "Okay, so let's go downstairs and see what Grandma will be making for your birthday." I said. "Okay. Can you please carry me down the stairs like you always do." She said. "Of course I will." I said.

I was carrying her down the stairs. When we were halfway down the stairs she got strange. I noticed why she got strange 'cause I smelled what she smelled. I smelled my Nanna's cookies. I'd say they were taken out of the oven like 1 minute ago. We went down the stairs for the rest of the way.

I set her down on the floor and she ran to Grandma. "Grandma!" She said excitedly. I felt really sweet inside. "Why hello there dreary." Grandma said crouching down to match her height. "Why don't you and Raven to sit down at the table. I have different plates for y'all to pick out. Okay," Grandma said. "Okay," we both said in unison.

We sat down at the table. I sat down with a blue plate on front of me. Claire sat down with a green plate in front of her. I guess thats her favorite color.

Grandma came over by the table. "Okay. I'll have the red plate." Grandma said. DING! The timer went off. "Oh dear. Excuse me. Let me go get that 2nd batch." She said excusing herself. "It's okay grandma." I said.

Grandma went over to the stove. She put on an oven mitt. She opened up the oven. I smelled the deliciousness of her good chocolate chip cookies. Then I smelled a few burnt cookies in the air. "Did you burn some cookies?" Claire asked nicely. "Yes. Only 4 though." She replied.

Grandma took a paper plate and put the 4 burnt chocolate chip cookies in the garbage can. "It's so sad to see your best cookies be thrown in the trash." said Claire.

"I know." Grandma replied. She put the rest of the cookies on the pan. She slid off her oven mitt and walked over to the table.

While Grandma was walking I saw a big gooey chocolate chip cookie. I knew that I was going to be first because I was always first. I sat straight, tall, and quiet. I closed my eyes with my hands in my lap. I was hoping that she would come to me when I heard her voice I knew I wasn't first this time.

"Which one would you want Claire?" Grandma said. "This one!"said Claire pointing to the gooey and smelled delicious cookie. Grandma picked up the cookie and slid it on her plate. "Do you want another one?" Grandma asked Claire. "No ma'am." She replied.

Grandma come over to me. "And which one do you want?" Grandma asked me. I took a small one since my appetite grew smaller when Claire took the massive cookie. I put the cookie carefully on my plate.

When we both ate our cookies we walked to the trash can and threw our plates away. We both went into the living room. I saw like 14 presents just for Claire! Maybe 2 or 3 were mine. "Okay which one do you want to open up first." Grandma said. Claire ran into the living room and made a little castle. I thought it was cute! Well only for an 8 year old. Just then I forgot that I didn't bring my present downstairs. I went to grandma and whispered in her ear

"I forgot her present upstairs." I whispered in my Grandma's ear. Then she whispered something back into my ear. "Why don't you get your present upstairs. You better have not lost it." Grandma whispered in my ear. "I know where it is." I whispered in her ear.

I went up the stairs quietly while she was making some kind of animal. I didn't know what kind of animal it was. I went into my bedroom. I looked under the bed, behind my dresser, and in the closet where I knew where I would hide stuff.

"Oh no I lost the present!" I said feeling so worried. I think if I didn't give her one she won't ever talk to me again. "Aha!" I said. I thought of a plan. First: I will go downstairs and tell grandma that I remembered it was in the car. Next: I will grab my keys and purse off the counter quietly. Third: I will go out the door and close it. Fourth: I will drive to Walmart and get her a new present. It will be even better than the first one.
