I gradually trailed to a stop, the tires rolling to a calm.
I was standing at a side of a park. There was another wall of buildings across from it, the golden sun glowing above them. To my back, was the alleyway I had just exited, splattered with blue and gold paint from the side of the sun. To my right was another train of Victorian Buildings, with store banners shivering awake, and bathed in the golden snow of warm morning. A dark tunnel was carved into the wall of earth that split the city into its quarters. A wall of dry dirt that was a well four meters tall, and sprouted grass on the top, and if you were to go on top of it, you'll find out that the wall of dirt is pretty thick, and the top is actually a bridge that calls for a tread around the city, gazing at the clouds and buildings of new on one side and old on the other from the top of its own world. This wall stretched farther and farther away to my east and west. But under it, the dark tunnel, with its orange glows of cavern lights, unknown of its length to the other side, was what would lie ahead of me.
A dark, foreboding, but fantastical adventure.
My dream waited beyond it.
I turned away from the yellow ball of day, the stream of water that crittered between the blades of grass, and the park sprinkled in flaxen dew, and thrust into motion. My bicycle rocked for a couple thrusts, until the gears spun.... and then the pedals accelerated, the wheels singing.
Dear New World.... I'm almost there!
I launched myself into the dark, dark tunnel, the light's reaching hand disappearing farther and farther away from me. Sticks of orange blinked into existence on the sides near the ceiling, providing artificial light to fool night into day. Then a new bright, white light burst into existence at the end of the tunnel, illuminating my tunnel of darkness into light!!
So please wait for me there, New World! I'm going there now! I'll show you what I'm made of! Watch me closely!!!
I let go of the pedals, and the shining light swallowed me whole. I Ieapt and melted into that white light, but at the same time, burning. In the whiteness, the sound of a bustling city hit my ears, and the chatter of people. Like a wave the sound entered my mind, my ears drinking and drinking and drinking it in.
I awakened my eyes and the world took colour.
Like a watercolour brush seeping in the water, the buildings sponged in the pink, blue and pastel gray. And soon the brimming light retreated and the world, full-blown with light and new wind, grew alive. The buildings stood as high as the sky, but not quite, only enough to make me tilt my head to catch it almost reach the grand blue sky. And there were many of those buildings, marching up the inclined road, with all sorts of pure colours, the light bouncing off of their metallic coats.
Suddenly, over my head, something blew a long and loud note, and an orange train the glinted and shot across the bridge between the buildings roaring, stealing the wind, and throwing a giant shadow onto the street. My hair went flying, and my eyes awed the the dark orange metal shuttle across with a painted silhouette. It kept on roaring and roaring and stealing the wind, the train that ran bravely in the city. And then after the moment of cool breeze and obscured sun, the train was sucked back into the alley at the height of the building's waist, and the sun blazed back onto the street.
In the town that swung largely and lively with robust sound, I pedaled up the wide street festive with people and noise and voice.
Well, this part was supposed to be really meaningful, but I can tell that I couldn't get it to be imaginative enough in the way I challenged it to be. Both scenes of where Natsumi exited into the tunnel and where the train passes across the bridge have somewhat of an impact in the overall feeling of the book, but I guess I'll need to try harder and come back to it later on... or very soon, when I feel like I'm burning to do it!
The train scene is also important because not only does it build the setting a bit, but actually, all eight of the main characters are present right now in that moment, watching the train go by. Not that the train has anything to do with the story line, though! It's that fate has brought them together at the same spot as an overture of their adventure in their days that had just begun.
Well, anyway, I'm very sorry for the late publish! I'll come back sometime soon with more things where something goes on. Mood is almost underway, and next time is the time for some adventurist action! Coming soon........ See y'all!
P.S. I don't know who drew the image at the top, but it's really good. (^v^)////
