I woke up on a Friday morning at 6:30 and I knew I had to get up and ready to start work at 8:30 but every day I wonder if I should just quit and sleep more. I walked to my bathroom in a half asleep dazed state. I took an unusually long shower and brushed my teeth. After I started feeling a little bit more awake I ate breakfast and got in my car at around 7:30. I worked pretty close but I had to make my way through the busy New York streets so I always give myself about an hour. I worked as a teller at a small banking company. I hated every moment of it. Sometimes I think if it was robbed I could just hand them all the money with a smile. As I headed to my job I saw more police cars racing down the street. There was too much crime in my neighborhood but I don't have the money to move out. I lived in a small apartment in the middle of Queens in New York City. As I pulled up to my parking space marked "G&G bank employee parking only" I could see some of my co-workers through the big glass windows. I only had two friends and they both worked at the bank with me. One was named Jeremy, he was a buff Egyptian guy with dark skin and dreads down to his shoulders. His dreads were lined with uneven amounts of small white beads that made him look like predator. He had a thick accent but got very annoyed when people didn't understand him. My other friend was an ex-Marine who was a little shaky. His name was Louis. He served two campaigns in the Marine Corps but was discharged with a purple heart after being shot in the shoulder. I did everything with these two and I loved them like they were my brothers. As I walked in I heard a gunshot close by, that inspired me to move a little quicker.

"Michael!" Jeremy said loudly. He was the loudest most outgoing person you ever met, but he was still gentle with a soft voice.

"Hey Mike" Louis said much quieter.

"Hey guys, did you just hear that gunshot outside? It sounded real close." Jeremy said continuing to be loud.

"Should we call the cops?" Louis said nervously. "No, they're probably already checking on it, we should get to work." I said noticing our boss Sommer walk in. She was a tan Cuban woman who had to be at least 7ft tall. We all thought she was genuinely insane.

"What's going on in here?" She asked angrily.

"Uhhh nothing, were just saying hey." Jeremy said quickly.

"Ok well get to work, I'm not paying you to say hey." We passed the day with our usual lack of business and half working half messing around attitudes. I left at 4 when the bank closed and drove back to my apartment. I was only for 10 minutes before Jeremy called me and asked me to go out to a bar with him and Louis tonight.

"You know I don't have the money for that Jeremy, it'll have to wait" I said.

"Michael it won't cost that much, come on. There's no price you could put on friendship." He said in an angelic voice.

"Ok, ok I'll go, but it's not because of that dumbass line." I said jokingly.

"Alright, we'll pick you up at your place at 8, be ready." I sat around for a few hours before I started to get ready. I put on a white shirt which was probably a little risky considering Louis spills something on everything. I've never met a more clumsy person. They didn't actually arrive till 9 which is what I was expecting anyway. I hopped in the car and the smell of marijuana stung my nostrils. Jeremy and Louis smoked a inhuman amount of weed, but I've grown to ignore their habits no matter how stupid they are.

"So where are we headed to tonight?" I said.

"There's a new club that opened pretty close to here, it's been getting a lot of attention lately, so I thought we could go check it out." Louis said slightly louder than normal, he was almost talking like a regular person. We started driving over when we heard a real loud noise nearby. I saw Louis flinch and sink into his seat, he was always on edge since being in the military.
