Rebecca Birch's Point of View:
Friday, March 27th-I waited for the bell to ring in my ninth period health class, excited to get out of school. Mrs. Dilarys has been talking endlessly for the past 40 minutes and if had felt even longer than usual. It was Friday, which meant another exciting weekend was ahead.
"You going to Matt's tonight?" Jennifer asked me as we walked out of the room. I shrugged.
"Probably, we both know Will will wanna go." She smiled as Will met us and put his arm around my shoulder. His blue eyes were bright with happiness.
"Hello beautiful." He smiled at me. "Hi, Jen." She rolled her eyes.
"Oh, I'm not beautiful?" She joked, I smiled and Will shrugged.
"Sorry. You're beautiful too, Jenny." We kept walking. "So we going to Matt's tonight?" He asked me. Jen looked at me, hopefully.
"Of course, Will. I knew you'd wanna go." He grinned at me as we got to my locker and Jen walked away. We waved goodbye at her in a 'see you later' way. I put my AP chemistry book in my locker, lowering the weight of my backpack by a solid pound.
"So you wanna go to the library after school? Get homework done early so we can do something fun this weekend?" Will asked. I thought about it for a minute before replying.
"Sure. But let's go home first. My precalc text book is in my room." He nodded and we walked to the honda I got for my birthday last year together. Will sat in the passenger seat and immediately changed it to his favorite classical music station as I turned on the car. The sky was blue and there wasn't a single cloud. The sun was shining, which was a pleasant surprise for the northeast in March.
"We should do something outside." I suggested, forgetting that though it was sunny it was 40 degrees out. Will quickly reminded me of this.
"Yeah no... It's kind of fucking freezing, Beck." I slouched in slight disappointment. "But... I guess if you want we can go sit on your back porch in our winter coats and do homework." I grinned at him happily. We drove and talked a little more until we pulled in my driveway.
"Hi guys." My mom said as we walked into the white kitchen she loved. There were trays of dozens of cookies and brownies in front of her. "I'm catering dessert for your dad's meeting tonight." I nodded, taking a bite of a sugar-looking cookie with blue frosting. "Rebecca! I just told you they were for your dad's meeting." I rolled my eyes at her lightly.
"Mom roughly 20 people go to those meetings and you have like 200 cookies here.. I'm sure they'll be fine with one less. She thought for a moment then gave me a knowing look.
"No practice tonight for either of you?" She asked, offering Will one of the same blue frosted sugar cookies.
"Nope. All free tonight." Will replied, adding a quick 'thanks.'
"Hi sweetie! Will." My dad said, coming down the stairs adjusting his tie. I smiled at him. His dark hair was wet and a drop hit my cheek as he leaned for a half hug. "I'm sorry, I'm in a hurry, or else I'd stay and talk." He picked up his phone, keys, laptop, and a couple folders. I shrugged, watching him pace around the kitchen picking things up. He kissed my mom goodbye and hugged me as he walked out the door. I was surprised, though my dad was busy, he very seldom was in that much of a hurry. Must've been late.
"We're gonna do some homework on the back porch. Then some people are going to Matt's tonight." She smiled at me.
"Sounds good." Will and I headed outside to start on homework.
Matt's was already full of people when we arrived.
"Becca! Will! Sup guys?!" People turned to smile at us when the door opened. Kasey and Luke headed towards us. Our group of 4 was pretty popular as a rule. We all had friends, but we were each other's best friends.
"Hey Kase." I said as she handed me a cup.
"Bryan Towers and John Miller already got in a fight." Luke told us. Will laughed, somehow managing to have already drank half a cup to it's emptiness.
"Over what?" I asked.
"Who do you think, Beck?" Kasey suggested, I smirked, knowing it was likely Megan Anderson who was always the cause of their fights. The music got turned up even louder than it was a second ago, and Will grabbed me as we agreed to meet Kasey later back at my house.
"How'd you already drink that much?" I asked Will, getting close to his ear and still almost yelling, he smiled as he filled his cup in the kitchen with soda and rum.
"Wanna do some shots?" He asked, laughing and taking a sip, knowing I would say no. I drank, but usually not more than a buzz. Only on the cub days. More of a social drinker than a drunk drinker.
"I'm gonna go walk around." I said, he nodded as he started talking to a couple guys he was on the lacrosse team with.
Around 1am the party was getting a little crazy. People were beginning to yell over the volume of the music, boys were getting a lot more drunk, and arguments were beginning to arrive. The music was only getting louder and Matt didn't necessarily live in the middle of nowhere. His nearest neighbor wasn't close but they weren't very far either.
"Hey you ready to go? This is getting a little weird.." Kasey suggested. I said a quick goodbye to the girl I was talking to and turned in agreement with Kasey. I hadn't even finished my first cup Kasey gave me and it had been almost 3 hours so I was fine to drive home. "Let's go find Will."
