Sadness enveloped me as I was driving back home through the crowded streets of New York.Knackered, I badly needed sleep after having been at the hospital for twenty six hours.Mrs Brightley had passed away and unlike many of my patients, I was close to her.Our friendship bond grew stronger over those two years, she was one of my first patients and also my confidante. Both of us, single women.

After fifteen minutes of drive I was home.I parked my Volvo across the road and rushed to my door.I wasn't gonna take the risk to meet any of my neighbors with such a face. My hair all ruffled up and the sleepy eyes wouldn't make good impression on anyone whom I might have attracted.

I closed the door behind me, dropped my bag on the bar and kicked my high heels across the room. I have a busy schedule these days, well I can't do otherwise.

I washed my face with warm water and a lavender soap. My eyes were reddish and so were my cheeks from the tiredness.Although I enjoyed looking at myself, I loved my features, brown eyes, black hair, olive skinned, short and curvy.

I had only five hours for some rest as I should be up by 14:00 and attend the funeral. After setting an alarm, i started undressing, taking off my white maxi, unhooking my bra, removing it slowly, then continuing with my panties.

Naked,I went to sleep...

!!!!! ding ding ding !!!!! it was time to wake up. I could hardly open my eyes anyhow i got out of bed after ten minutes.

I loved feeling the hot water running on my skin,it was relaxing...

I opted for a long black maxi with lace at the back,a subtle makeup and flats.I looked pretty darn good in that i thought to myself.

I grabbed some strawberries and a piece of cheese from my fridge to eat on my way as i was very hungry. The little red fruits tasted amazing,it kinda distracted me and i fantasizied about them when my concentration should have been on the road instead.

After half an hour i reached the long island cemetery.

The priest was there doing prayers and i joined in the crowd.A tear rolled down my cheek as i remembered the moments we shared together.I kept a bouquet next to her coffin and did a prayer for her.My friend was gone.

As i was walking back to my car,a man approached me and thanked me for my presence. He was impressive and very attractive. He was tall, muscular, had dark blonde hair and green eyes.

"I'm Alexander, the son of Karen Brightley and i guess you are Nikki, right?"

"Yes, that's me, glad to meet you Alexander," I moved my hand in his direction, as I was about to give him a handshake but instead he took my hand gently and placed it to his lips, he looked at me in the eye then sweetly kissed it. This dude was making me melt. I smiled at him and so did he, we were there, two strangers staring at each other.

There was a soft breeze and the leaves did a soft sound which woke us from our reverie. He let hold of my hand and and our smiles broadened.

"My mom usually spoke about you, she likes you a lot and thank you for everything you did for her, as her friend and doctor"

"Well firstly you don't need to thank me and secondly your mom and I were really close, we were always there for each other in those two years"

"I always thought that girl my mom talked about was nice but I never had met her but today here we are and I really appreciate you Nikki."

"Thank you Alexander."

"Call me Alex, Alexander is kinda long and old fashioned"

He walked me to my car and we had a little chat;
