Chapter 6 Part 3

Vampire scent was hard to miss, it was bitter and just the scent was cold, especially a vampire that just had a feast. It smelled like she had come from Washington and came towards North Dakota, then towards Canada. Her path smelled extraordinarily fresh, so I thought I would follow it. She had stopped at a camp ground right near the border. I phased and pulled on my shorts. I could still smell the vampire stench. It led to an old abandoned camper, right near a small river. I knocked on the small door. The blond woman opened the door.

"Oh, it's you. Very well, come in. Your stench is revolting though." she sighed as soon as she saw me. I stepped through the dirty crème colored door. The interior was dirty and looked like it hadn't been even stepped in for a long time until today. There were shoeprints in dust on the ground; the strong stench stung my eyes. I had gotten used to the Cullen's scent, not this scent.

"What's your problem?" I asked, glaring at her.

"I'm a vampire, I feed, it's not a problem." She replied like it was nothing.

"Not cleaning up after yourself, doing it on public grounds; that is a problem! Who even created you?"

She laughed, "Who created me? I've been around since the sixteen hundreds! I've stayed in the shadows for a long time. Feeding on the people no one will notice are gone. I just got a little to hungry today and went crazy." She shrugged.

"You say that like it isn't a big deal!"

"It's not."

"Oh. At least come back with me to explain this to everyone."

"Who's everyone?"

"The family of the girl that was with me."

"That girl looked familiar. Anyway, why not. I was going to go back home but oh well." She mumbled to herself.

I turned and walked out of the door. She took off into the woods. I phased and followed.

We were almost there and I caught Edward and Carlisle's scent, I ran after the scent and she followed me. I came to Edward and Carlisle surrounding a fire. It smelled like burning flesh. I think I knew what was in the fire.

"Carlisle?" she asked running towards him.

"Ruby?" Carlisle asked surprised.

"You know her?" Edward asked.

"Yes, I met her back when I was with the Volturi. We were quite good friends until she left." He replied.

"Yes I was part of the Volturi. Aro somewhat begged me to be." She shrugged.

"What? Do you have a power or something?" I asked.

"Yes, I can clone anyone's power. I'm reading your mind now. By the way, thanks Edward. But you can have it back, I don't like it."

"Thanks?" he replied, his eyebrows furrowed rubbing his temples.

"So Ruby, where have you been?" Carlisle asked stiffly.

"Everywhere. How 'bout yourself?"

"Home mostly. Next time you decide to feast on innocent people, please clean up after yourself." Carlisle turned and headed back for the water park. "Come on."

We all followed behind him.

When we arrived at the water park everyone was sitting around. Everyone except Nessie, she was bleaching the blood spots on the ground and scrubbing them with a sponge.
